Can a MOD edit a PM??
I have been deleting some PM's because HUKD'ers have been trying to contact me and my in box was full. I looked at one I had sent and it had been edited .

Nope, I never got it. :-(
My in box gets full too quickly with Members asking for my help. I cannot offer help via PM because I cannot save the messages so I can refer to them again when I'm helping.

Moderators cannot edit your PM's only you can do that...

I can't have another Internet page open, I already have and need at least 8 open every day for work, HUKD, Ebays P&P board etc.

I'm not sure what to do. :-( :-(

Thanks for the idea.

Thanks Ray.
Ummmm, very strange.
I typed in a word beginning with B, I was talking about a scammer to another member.
When I went to delete that message, that word had become *********
Any ideas Ray?

Its the foul language filter at work, say I try to use the barstool word like this ******* it will end up as lots of *****

Ah that'll be the automatic filter changing offensive words [or those that might be seen as].

It's a bit funny sometimes though, like I had a bit of trouble last week with my hot waterbottles thread: ho****erbottles!!!

Unfortunately it's only really something we had to bring in because of the spam we were getting. This way, if a user happens to read it before we get there it can appear less offensive.

Any forum of this kind, the pms CAN be viewed, edited, deleted and done as they so wish by admin, or someone with admin access.

On a previous contract, i set up a php forum for a school, and whilst testing several features, i could easily access pm's. Please note, once the site went live, i did not use this, but it can be done.

All pm's are stored as free-form text in a database; they have to be stored somewhere.

The profanity filter. Again, it being for under 16's was heavily censored and many words were omitted, just to be safe, lol, we even asked a colleague who spoke other languages for help. They can be set to block any word, and the replacement, here it is several *; we opted for "rude word" to try to show the user's it was wrong.

They have those filters in government departments...they also return mail that has offensive language...so i have to be extremely careful as many of my friends are civil servants who I email at work.
