problem with a seller on ebay

Ok so i bought need for speed most wanted on psp from someone on ebay for £2.65 and £2.50 postage so £5.15 total, they had 0 feedback but i figured hey you have to start somewhere plus ive bought from people who have had 0 feedback before and havent had any problem, anyway, the seller sent me a invoice and i paid for it and sent him a message asking when he would be sending it out.

The next day i check and they guy has returned my payment but didnt contact me to say why, i sent him a message asking why and what the reason was.
Today i recieved a message from him saying, "i am sorry, i don not wish to sell the item for £2.65. please forgive me.
many thanks"

so ive never been in this situation before like this with the seller not wanting to sell, with the new feedback changes i could leave him negative feedback without the risk of him giving me it back,
im just wondering how you guys think i should handle this.

A neg and a report is probably the answer.

He doesn't legally have to sell it but he's breaking ebays rules and if he keeps doing it he'll be chucked off.
#2
He can't leave you negative feedback now...

You need to warn other potential buyers...
#3
He's pi**ing you about and trampling all over the rules.

Report and neg

Leave him negative feedback, he has to learn that it's an auction and there is a risk he won't get what he hoped for the item. I have sold hundreds of items on eBay and many times I did not get what I hoped but you still have to go through with the transaction. Also if the seller wanted a certain ammount for the game he should have put a reserve price on it!
#5
Neg him and report to ebay. Just cos he wanted more and it went cheap - tough, should have put a higher start price!!
#6
Personally i'd just forget about it. It's not like he kept your money....

That's not the point, he cant just decide that it wasn't enough. I'd def report and leave negative feedback. Don't let him get away with it.
#8
he did refund you the money - just forget about it - no need to leave neg feedback
#9
had a few like this myself sometimes they tell u the truth other times they lie and worst of all some tell you they will not send your items unless you pay extra as they where really looking for more money for their items as said above advises negative feedback as ebay tells you there is nothing they can do to make them sell their items to you
#10
happens a lot, person wanting more but putting starting bid really low. Sorry for your loss

what is this stupid quote of the year....whats the point of auction sites if people will just pull the plug if they dont like the price you win it for. As all have said give him negative feedback and report him to both ebay and paypal...these people need booting off ebay......

these people give ebay a bad name

Quite correct, if he knew what he was doing he would have bid up his own item and been an acceptable ebayer:roll:
#16
Definately neg him, he should have set a reserve if he wanted more money.
#17
Wouldn't report him nor would I leave him a negative but I certainly would air my views with the seller and state that he should have sent me the item at the price it was won for.

He could possibly be unaware of the trading rules on eBay and we were all newbies on eBay at one time.

Minimum reserve is £50, would you pay that for a PSP game?

Is it, didn't know that. Ok, starting price then. That's what I did when I sold hubbys trainsets.:-D

It's not your concern they haven't read the rules of trading...
#22
maybe put a neutral feedback instead
#23
problem you have is cos he refunded you havent paid?? and you wont be able to leave fback will you?
he can also report you for not paying?
do the right thing-email him and explain the rules and tell him you realise he is new. Make the payment again and wait for him to send...then go from there? if he is stroppy neg him. I wouldnt let it lie-and im not petty. I have sold lots for less than value but thats ebay!!
good luck

hmm didnt know you cant leave feedback if its in unpaid status

Negative and a rude/insulting/threatening email...thats the only way to go....he will never learn otherwise:w00t:

Would you also stamp your foot?

as far as i know in the past i have seen negs removed cos of none payment-and a refund comes up as none-payment on ebay..have a look the payment logo will have gone?

So what happens after the threatening/rude email? seller would have a change of heart and send the item. That fact that the seller was truthful enough to say that he/she was not willing to sell at that price is enough, obviously he is new on ebay, if its were to be a seasoned ebayer like myself and so many others on here, one would have just said item is broken and no longer available for sale. At least respect the guy for saying the truth.

A polite neg or neutral will do and then a message explaining that if he keeps doing this he won't be on ebay much longer, without patronising him.
#29
Name and shame, we need links!

you cant leave feedback if you dont respond to the unpaid item dispute the seller opens..if you respond you can still leave feedback ( as far as I know)

but if the item isnt paid for the feedback is removed...i got a refund damaged goods and seller was high volume and got an auto unpaid item...my positive feedback was removed:roll:
#31
not sure how naming and shaming would help, ive decided that im going to email him again explaining ebay rules on selling because he is a new member he may not have read the rules and depending on how he responds will decide if i will leave neg for him.
#32
You should send payment again and they say to him if you dont post i will report to ebay, please read the rules

lol - i would report the guy to ebay and take it from there.
#34
well i sent him a message with a few ebay rules on selling, also asked him if he had no intention of selling it for that price, then why send me an invoice for the total amount.

thats wrong, the feedback will be removed if an unpaid item report is made and the buyer doesn't respond. If the buyer responds, even just to say 'i'm not paying' the neg won't be removed.

Leave a neg, thats what feedback is for.
As for him possibly not knowing how things work, then he shouldn't have started selling till he had read the rules!

Thats the way to do it;-)

Now if he gets funny you can feel justified in leaving a neg:)
#37
Just neg him its his fault for selling at a cheap start to save himself some seller fees. Looking on ebay it goes for this price all the time what did he expect to get for it the idiot.
#38
Whats the point in negging him? He will just open a new ebay account and start gain, its not like he's got to start from square one all over again is it, he's already there! What would you do if your feedback is -1? Try and sell again from that account or start again?

I would however have a stab at pointing the rules out to him in a polite but firm manner and hope he has a change of heart.
#39
im more annoyed because he sent me an invoice after i won with the total amount and then i paid and only then he decided it didnt go for enough, i tend to only pay for an item ive won after ive recieved the sellers invoice so if he said from the begining i wouldnt have been as bothered.
#40
Just neg the joker and move on why you so worried about it.
