Hi all,

I'm waiting for a payment through paypal but when I tried to go onto my account they have frozen it!

" PayPal is constantly working to ensure security by regularly screening the accounts in our system. We recently reviewed your account, and we need more information to help us provide you with a secure service. We would like to return your account to regular standing as soon as possible. We apologise for the inconvenience.

Why do I need to provide additional information about my account?

We require additional information about your account for the following reason(s):

# 3 Sep. 2007: You have received £4,500.00 GBP or more in total payments to your PayPal account.

PayPal is required by law to comply with European Union Anti-Money Laundering regulations by collecting information from customers when they receive more than the set limit in total payments. These steps need to be completed within 180 days to comply with this regulation.

If you have any trouble completing the steps, please feel free to contact Customer Service on 08707 307 191.

We appreciate your business and apologise for any inconvenience.

(Your case ID for this reason is PP-331-280-253.) "

so I have to "Enter Expanded Use Number" (I don't know what this is) and "Provide Business Information" (of a business I don't have!?)

Has anybody encountered this before or know what to do?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I got a feeling that over £4500 of money coming in might mean that it is taxable, don't know if it applys if your a business or personal use, But the only thing you can do is ring them.
Hence why they speak about Money Laundering etc...

Hope this helps

I had this about three years ago, all instructions should be in your Paypal Account. Just follow them and it will be back to as it was. Only fill in the parts that are relevant.

We had this a year or so ago. It is all down to the government laws on money laundering. You have to fill in all the relevant details you can and then your account will be back to normal. We found it quite complicated as the PayPal account is in one name, but the bank account is in joint names. So call PayPal if you need help. Stupid idea really, like you're really a top Class A drug dealer if you can only make £4.5k in 4 years!! Sooner this pathetic government with their petty legislation and ridiculous PC ideals is gone the better!!

spot on, thanks guys :)

I had the same thing about six months ago and only problem I encountered with it was when they phoned to confirm address the call was cut off and I had to wait for them to send the pin number out via royal mail which took about 12 days. Only thing you can't do will the account is close it so it's not to much of a problem.

Hi all,
"Provide Business Information" (of a business I don't have!?)

I don't have a business either and the information I have put below is what paypal told me to put when I rasng them.

In the business part you need to put
Business Type: Individual
Company Number: (Limited Company only) Not Applicable
Account Holder Date of Birth: add your D.O.B
VAT Number: (optional) None Specified
Category: Entertainment
Subcategory: General
Average Transaction Price: Less than £25 GBP
Average Monthly Volume: Less than £1,000 GBP
Sales Venue: eBay
Business URL: None Specified
Percentage of Annual Revenue From Online Sales: None Specified
Date Business Established: None Specified

I'd rather close the acct than send them my passport. Betdaq did that to me a couple of years ago. Trouble was that I had £100 in the acct and they wouldn't let me withdraw without it. When I threatened them with theft charges, they allowed me to email them scans of the documents. They wouldn't budge and I had to send the docs by email.
I withdrew the £100 and never used them again. Their loss.
But I never have enough in Paypal to be worried about such a thing reoccuring to tell the truth.
