Basically, haider786 just bought something from me. The package was light. I stuck a second class stamp on it as I thought that'd be enough.

I went to my local post office who weighed it and said I needed to put an extra 15p on. I did, I think I have the receipt to prove that.

Now, haider has received a card saying an item has arrived but £1.15 is due to pay on it.

What can I do?!

Thanks,

AV

send him the 1.15 for starters
#2
Does the receipt have the weight of the item? Is the 15p stamp still on?
#3
Looks likely the 15p stamp fell off.

Yes can happen. If you ring royal mail they will be able to organise a refund. I had many a complaint about the same thing when i ran a post office
#5
I just checked and I don't have a receipt - the post office guy didn't give it as it was only 15p.

wonkydonky, if you've got nothing useful to say then don't say anything at all.

So I should just ring Royal Mail (any ideas for numbers?) and hope that they will refund the £1.15. I don't see where the £1 came from either to be honest.

In the meanwhile, should I just refund haider?

The extra £1 is the processing fee for Royal Mail to deal with items incorrectly stamped. Hope you get it sorted out!
#7
the £1 is the fine (for want of a better word) for not putting the correct amount on the item

There seems to be a fair few numbers you could try on saynoto0870.com

They probably wont do anything unless you have the print out showing weight and amount paid to be honest, still worth a try though.

in that case, you should have asked them to weigh and work out the postage when you picked up the item. they wouldnt have charged you then if it had the correct postage on.

I think that's the point isn't it? The stamp must have fallen off? The only vague proof being a possible receipt.

Come on Benji. haider said it had the stamp on there although his lack of punctuation did make it somewhat ambiguous.

I really should pay attention, didn't realise he was the recepient!

How's the weather your way? My conservatory is pretty much flooded!

csiman, with all due respect, when you don't know what's going on, please don't throw around accusations.

I had it weighed at the local post office who said it needed an extra 15p which was paid for.

Haider, I have PMed you asking this - can you check if there's any sign that the stamp may have fallen off. If so, I have grounds to claim against Royal Mail. Otherwise, I'll have to write it off as "always get a receipt no matter how small!" as I've already paid you an additional £1.15.

???

I think csiman was referring to the recepient weighing it to prove that the correct postage was on there. I think the recepient also said that the 15p stamp was on there.

Maybe you should properly read my comments before jumping to conclusions :-D My point was that haider picked up the item which did have the 15p stamp on and yet he still paid the excess postage.

When I spoke to customer services about a complaint I had last week, they didn't ask for any proof and refunded my postage in the form of a book of 6 first class stamps.

And I agree with AV1985, Royal Mail are always screwing things up for me, and they should be held accountable for everything. My postage was only worth £1.95, but where do you draw the line?
#19
No intention of doing any of that rubbish you guys talked about. You are all simply saying that £1.15 is nothing, if that's the case then put up or shut up.

This thread was aimed at people who can give advice, if you have nothing useful to say then go spam another thread.

Try and behave yourselves please guys- Deleting argumentative comments.

Well...........that's now the end of that for at least 24 hours. lol

lol suspended ^_^
#23
Suspension does seem a bit harsh, unless there were pm's sent or something?

I'm not trying to argue here, just pointing out that it'll probably cost more that £1.15 to get the £1.15. Then you've got the cost of your time too.

To add, I also pointed out that AV was technically right but IMO it wasn't worth the time and effort chasing it.
#24
It had the stamp on the parcel just someone had written extra 15p and etc which is stupid AV do this call customer services have a right at them about it saying you have a receipt and get a refund they probs send out stamps etc if that may help but honestly calm down people AV is a trustworthy guy, good man and I never thought of getting it weighed up at the post office on collection thats all..

Av I've left positive feedback aswell =] Salaam.
