Problems viewing the site in Firefox?

Sorry for creating it in this category, but it seems that a *lot* of people are experiencing problems, so it might be a good idea to have a notification on the main page.

Anyway, if your HUKD looks like the screenshot, it's a problem with Firefox, not the website! To fix it:

* Hold down Ctrl, and press F5 *

Also, if you are currently using text view and wish to to return to normal view, click 'full view' in the top left, underneath the submit button.

Please, give the site a chance guys, if you're still having problems then please use the feedback thread admin has setup, don't create a new thread as it doesn't help anyone - http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/125127/

I am using Firefox 2.0.0.11 and have had no problems.
#2
Wow! It looks pretty different after CTRL+F5 (I am also using 2.0.0.11) and a lot better than before. Even if it is a bug in Firefox, why would you design a new site that does not work well in one of the most popular browsers? Surely the site should be tested on a couple of browsers before going live.
#3
CTRL+F5 refreshes the cache for that site, it must have still had some of the old information mixed with the new site. Its not so much a HTML error but a Firefox one.
#4
Nope, it's absolutely not a problem with HUKD, I don't know how to explain it in non-geeky terms, but on every web page there are two files - one for the style, one for the content - the style one has been updated, but Firefox for some reason remembers the old version, and won't forget it until you press Ctrl + F5.
#5
Would be nice to get this on the front page though please guys, I honestly think a lot of people would benefit from this information.
#6
Thanks for this worked a treat! Oh and i,m browsing on aol so not just a firefox thing.
#7
ok, I use FF and clicked the text only option on the right, cause it did look bloody awful, now I cant get back to normal view with the pictures. Any idea how? Would have thought the text only option would have changed to normal view, but it didnt, stayed at text only.

must say, lots of people dissatisfied here. Another site I used to use went like this and went up the swannee. hope its sorted soon.

I'm also finding that not all posts are in date order, a couple of recent posts (last hour) are below ones from 7.30 this morning ???:?
#9
To get back to normal view, click 'full view' in the top left, underneath the categories.
[mod]#10
Under "Submit!" are the view options, click full details to get back from text only.

Tip to the Hot UK Deals web developers - When redesigning a site, do NOT use the same filenames for resources such as images and CSS
#12
thanks blizeH, sorted.

still prefer the old look tho.

#14
Thanks guys got it sorted now in firefox
#15
Anyone know the Firefox shortcut on OS X? I'm going to unleash hell with my Yoda lightsaber any minute now :)
#16
My Live bookmark in Firefox no longer work ? The Bookmarks shows the deals but when click on one i get an error page when loads hukd.
Recreated the live bookmark but still same ?
#17
Same problem with Safari on my Mac... anybody know what buttons I need to press to refresh my cache?
#18
thanks again. It does look better once you have done this, though I still find it hard to navigate around. Don't really know if that is me getting used to it or bad design.

1. I'm using FF v2.0.0.11 and my bookmark takes me to the Error Page.

2. Pressing CTRL-F5 gets me absolutely nowhere.

3. When designing a website make sure it runs in all popular browsers.

I for one, don't mind the change but at least the old one worked!

spotted the following bugs, im using xp sp2, Firefox 2.0.0.11, 1024*768:

http://i1.tinypic.com/85du5ax.jpg

http://i9.tinypic.com/821ovwx.jpg

the vouchers sections looks RUBBISH:

error for this page in screenshot below: http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/99332/deposit-10-in-cyber-bingo-and-get-1

http://i18.tinypic.com/85zxi4j.png

before it had a list sorted by company and a very quick description e.g 5% off £50 now its just like using the forums which takes forever to find codes, please can you change that back to how it was.

the errors look like CSS errors, this site should work with any resolution and the page numbering needs re-coding as you can see, there are only 12 pages, not 3412!
#21
It was funny earlier in Safari but looks ok now.

This is my 4th post in 2 minutes but I just keep getting:-

post length is too short
banned#23
Hurrah! That one worked ;)
banned#24
is it just me or is it impossible to tell what sort of post one is reading. This one for example doesnt say if it is a hot deal, a trade etc.

SEARCH option just returns a list of posts but no column to say what section it is from!
#25
Ive noticed you have to choose the "discussed tab" as shown in previous pic to get list in date format, then choose "text only". Only problem list only refreshes every 10 minutes!!!! WTF?

Also it well slow loading some pages, often getting "HUKDs is down" and "edit" tab dont seem to work for me.
Not a fan of this new layout although the grey bars at top could work well with the old forum layout.

{edit} edit works now.

I'm viewing in IE - I know someone has put a lot of effort into the new layout but - I may be alone - I liked the old format!
Sorry!
#28
Cannot get to page 2 as half the page is missing so it didnt cure my firefox problem, no scroll bar either.

57 seconds to load this page (20mb connection) - LOL!

Hi guys,

We did rename the css file last night so not sure why this is happening. It is not the same filename as before.

I will see if we can get a tip on the sidebar though or header as obviously it is not supposed to look like that!
#32
And how come every post is really hot ie no negatives since the change in format?
#33
this has to be the worst possible time to change the look of the site.

12 days till christmas, ****ing hell. I mean really?

I don't like it either, more like a previous model compared to the last.
#34
I'm on Internet explorer using aol - main page looks okay(ish) click on link and text is everywhere! me not like sorry!- searching is a lot better!
#35
I was having the "firefox problem" using IE at work! Anyway, ctrl-f5 seems to have cleared it so thanks to the OP!
#36
I'm not sure if I'm having problems - is this site still under construction? Looks a bit bare...

Agreed! Stick a pole on the front page and let the members decide which layout is best!!!

Also Im struggling to read posts with quotes, like this one. Plus still cant find the thread I was reading yesterday and I scrolled back 15 pages!

can you look at the bugs i screenshot'd in this thread pls. poor coding and testing:(
#39
Ctrl F5 not doing anything for me
#40
Well, aside from glitches and lapses in logic (ie the vouchers no longer listed by company) what happened to common decency?

Would it have been so difficult to open threads in each fourm over the last few days explaining a big change was going to happen? Or maybe they were there and I missed them...? In any case, springing this kinda thing (especially at this time of year) on people is the way to mightily p!ss them off (I'm not mightily p!ssed off, but you know what I mean).
