I brought a TV from curry`s which is faulty, there is a clicking noise coming from the TV. I reported the fault just after having the tv for a month. An engineer came out to look at the TV but the TV was silent for the time that he was at my house, since then the problem got worse (happened for about 1 minute every time when we turned the TV on and off). Currys have now taken the TV away for repair.

My question is Do I have to take the repaired TV back or can I ask for a new one as the fault was reported within 45 days of purchase.

Currys are within their rights to repair the tv and return it to you. They have no legal requirement to replace it, unless they are unable to repair the fault.

However, one little known thing done in situations like this is a claim for compensation for the loss of the use of the tv during repair, so once you get it back, even if you are completely satisfied, write a letter/email and ask for compensation for the stress and inconvenience you have experienced. Always worth a try :thumbsup:

By allowing them to take it away for repair you are deemed to have accepted a repair, general rule of thumb is dont accept repair and insist on replacement is fault is within first couple of months. If its so soon after purchase then the fault is inherent

Ive got LG tv from Currys and it went faulty within a month. I refused a repair and they took it away and i had another up grade as mind had been discontinued.

Yup ! I heard this, get a refund, buy it again, if you can next time.

The reason I let them take it for repair was because I wanted it proved that there was a fault with the TV. When the repair man turned up before the TV would not make the noise. The TV has to be turned on for a couple of hours before making the noise when it was turned off. Now if Curry`s tell me it needed rapairing due to the fault and I can say that the tv was faulty when I first contacted them but they said I couldn`t have a new tv until the fault had been confirmed.
