Problems you've had with your car since you bought it?

My dear ol' Suzuki is going in for an operation tonight which has inspired this post.

What model car do you have, how long have you had it and how reliable has it been?

My car has been absolutely wonderful since we got it in 2001 (born in '97, 1 other owner). Never a problem for years, just a battery change as it had been on the original battery until 2005. Late last year I needed to fork out for new brake discs & pads, have some welding done under the wheel arches and tonight I need to have the handbrake feet (or foot) looked at as it's sticking when left for a couple of days.

Apart from these few things that have come with age this is probably the most reliable car my family (and certainly me) has ever owned and *touch wood* has never broken down on us.

Thumbs up to my 1l mk1 Wagon R!

I have a Rover 218 and a Rover 414, both have been almost perfect. The only major problem was with the 218 when the clutch cable broke. I say major because my wife was driving it at the time, and instead of calling breakdown, she had me go and pick her up, drive to her work. Then I had to go back again and wait for the breakdown service.

K reg Escort, owned it 5 years and the only expensive bit has been when I wrecked the gearbox (couldn't be arsed to change a £70 engine mount.....). It's had plenty of welding but all that cost me was a load of burns up my arms

2000 Golf GTi turbo (had it 18 months) 2 new door lock modules, new cambelt, new water pump, new seat heating elements on both sides (all done under warranty, just as well as VW wanted ££££ to do all that) new battery, then a couple of weeks ago I was driving in to a multi-storey, went to get a ticket by putting my window down and the dam thing fell in to the door - window regulator kit and a whole day to fix that one. Car is absolutely immaculate, guess looks can be deceiving.

lol all laugh-i got a multipla! its X reg 2000 and only had an exhaust, brakes and tyres(maybe a bulb?) since i got it 6 years ago-cant recommend it enough! Bought so I could sit the little guy up front with me and dad-soon realised 6 seats are a bonus and its cheap to run. Seats click out dead easy to transport almost anything-not posh but great value!

So you've had NO problems at all then:thumbsup:

I don't even see tyres, brake parts, batteries etc as 'problems' because they're consumable items. It's a bit like saying your printers got a problem and needs repair because the inks run out  Clutches, shocks, exhausts... borderline problems, doors that fall of when you drive along REAL problem:whistling:

I have a Seat Toledo Sport 150 TDI, 04 plate and had it for two and a half years - only problem (aside from normal maintenance such as tyres, brakes etc.) has been a wheel bearing that needed replaced. I suspect that was my fault though after kerbing the wheel.

My 99T Skoda Octavia needed a windscreen wiper linkage replaced and a door lock, that was it though.
