Prof Layton & Curious Village DS Instructions

Can anyone tell me if the instruction book for this game is really helpful (as sometimes you can't live without them and sometimes they're no use at all!) I'm on a tight budget for christmas and can get the cartridge only much cheaper, but if it makes the game impossible to play it's false economy as the game will just sit in a drawer!

I bought the game without the manual and i completed it so i dont think its necessary

Its a good game but i don't think you need it...it explains the controls in game game and if you get stuck..*cough cough me* then go here GameFaqs
