Program to convert AVI for iPhone (AVI to m4v, mp4 or mov file)

Hi, could you recommend a program to convert AVIs to a format suitable to play on the iPhone (3gs)

I have tried the avs4you and find the quality very very poor. Picture is bad, jumpy and sound is out of sync.

Prism video converter is excellent in both picture quality and sound, but only when it works. 90% of the videos I convert have no sound – the website is no help as it only suggests downloading k-lite codec pack, no good for the iphone.

Thanks

Handbrake definitely converts to the resolution of the phone.

Videora is great, very easy to use

go onto download.cnet.com and get the free download - iPod robot

It's really good - get a high quality output and compresses the file too. I give it 10/10 for my ipod videos.

Can't send you the link because work filter won't let me on it oO

ok, they both worked fine.

Handbrake definitely converts to the resolution of the phone.

with handbrake the max resolution was that of the video which was slightly less than that of the max accepted by the phone, wouldnt let me scale it up a little, only by a few pixels mind so no great loss.

Thanks for the help

You obviously can't increase the resolution to that greater than the source file.

WinAvi - Try it.
I use it for iphone and walkman both mp4 perfectly fine, quality is great (I use 1024kbps)
Combine it with CCCP codec pack, and I can convert any film in under 10 minutes even on a celeron laptop.
Edit: Also you can change the size of the output resolution, but obviously that results in quality loss, if its only by a few pizels you wont notice much difference.
