Hello, I am considering buying a ps3 from Hong Kong and would appreciate any help from members on things I would need to take in to account for this purchase.

Many thanks.

Don't its not worth it. Just order from http://videogamesplus.ca
They don't charge you over the odds on delivery, its about £2-4 for it (games, not sure about consoles). They have Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction for £25 just now

dont forget import tax which is about £20 + 17.5% of the value of the item, somtimes you get caught sometimes you dont, but with an item as big as the ps3 you have a bigger chance of getting stung.

how much cheaper is it from HongKong compared the UK.?

if anything does go wrong with your PS3 (Red lights), you can always take it back to the shop for an exchange.

PS: does this mean its the end for the Wii!:|

this is also an import but from USA - so customs probably will sting you for duty and vat and the post office will charge you £7 for the privilege of opening your package for them :whistling:

Oh and it may only run imported games and the plug will be wrong :?

You cant play all blu-rays certainly Region B ones as it's region A locked.

Thanks for that guys.

In this moment in time, I have little interest in watchin blu-ray movies on it and online game play.

I have been told that the plug is the same as in UK and the language can be selected to english on the games purchased from Hong Kong.

resale value would be a lot less. No blu-ray needed or online play. Why get a ps3 then lol
#7
lol, it is purely for gameplay (indoors!).

1. not to sell
2. not going to watch blue-ray movies
3. not going to connect online for internet based gaming

You can't play PS2 games
uhhh

You'll get taxed loads [I got taxed £50 on a psp]

How much is it then? Would have to be around £100 to be worth it really cos of import duties/VAT etc.

It's actually best to call Sony, they are very good with supplying replacements and sometimes even do it if the warranty has ran out - that's what I call customer service :P

Yup, they swap the console at the door.

Theres a 3% chance of the ps3 actually breaking and usually its down to the actual owner dropping it or throwing water over it.

Ive never ever got caught with customs, I've always bought things from Japan/HK/America (huge things and small)

I presume warranty will only be covered by HK based sony?

Wouldn't bother,go to shop here or buy online from a reputable site.
I think you pretty likely to be taxed on it too.
