Protecting yourself with paypal

Chargebacks are common in paypal where good/services have been paid for and not been delivered.

If I sell an item on eBay, I need to send it via signed-for/special delivery or parcel force (something WITH a signature on receipt) otherwise if the item gets lost, I am responsible and the buyer gets their money back ... hands down.

But what about if someone is collecting an item from me ? How can I prevent the collector from denying they collected the item and tell Paypal they never did collect it ? Will a signed home-made receipt be good enough ?

Thanks

if they're collecting it, take a photo of them with it in their hands. Get them to sign a receipt to say they picked it up.

good point for any collections of value it be worth runnin out to shops and grabbin a counterfiet pen for a couple quid one mark on the notes will let ya know they are genuine and any buyer with nothing to hide would have no issues with you checking them

and if they pull the old i got money in my paypal but no cash tell em to withdraw it and come collect in a few days!

Maybe they want to pay by credit card.....

But anyway, on collected items there is no protection whatsoever. Don't bother taking photos, getting them to sign bits of paper etc as you're just wasting your time.

Agreed, the ONLY way to possibly protect yourself is to get them to agree to you sending a letter to them recorded (so you have tracking and proof of delivery) before they collect but after they pay. That way if they say you didn't deliver you have a tracking number and paypal will refuse the claim.
But that doesn't stop 'not as described' claims.

Yeah but that wouldn't work on a table and 6 chairs  Thats the problem, most stuff that people pick up is too bulky for normal mail and Paypal know that. They generally side with the scamm.... buyer anyway.
