The SCPH-1001 was the PS1 with the Red, White and Yellow on the back - instead of going throgh a wire. It was built in 1996 so a very old model, however as it was one of the first models made, it was made to a much better quality than the newer PS1s.

The fact that the Red White and Yellow are ports and not going through all the same cable getting intefernece and the fact that the PS1 was made to aa very good quality, makes this a very good CD player.

It just one of those little things that irritate me (a sort of pet hate), like people saying "wanted Xbox stuff" when they mean Xbox 360. PSX is the nice grey square ones, PS1 is the horrible little white blobby thing ;-)

I thought that PSX was the development code name. The actual name was Playstation, abbreviated to PS. Since the launch of the PS2 and PS3 many people have taken to referring to the original Playstaion as PS1 to avoid confustion.

The horrible little white blobby things were called: PSOne.

One of the things that irritates me is when people are pedantic, especially when they are wrong!! :)

Yeah actually there's been some tests on those old PSX units with the RCA outs and apparently they're up there with the £5000 audiophile CD players. They're quite sought after now.

Actually just tried my multitap which has IR and comes with a remote and it works fine. Only problem is that I have had to connect an extension cable to it as otherwise it won't fit because there is a memory card bit attached as weel which won't fit in ps1.
