Found this :
PS2 Slide Card and Swap Magic v3.3 Combo. Play all PS2 Import & Backup games! No need to install a ModChip to play your PS2 backups or original import games. You do not even have to open the console, therefore your warranty stays intact. Works on all Versions 1-11 of PS2 Console

the best way i know of playing modded games is using the chip, ebay might have some or a quick google will help

another way is to get a ps2 network adaptor, you can then plug a hard drive in back of ps2 console and run games from the hd

the adaptor is about £30, you need some software as well, should be easy to find via google

im sure to put a modchip in, you need to do some soldering,

My x boyfriend did this and as far as i know it was quite straigt forward. Then once its done you put the swap magic disk in, then use this little plastic thing to pull out the disk (if it makes sense) then put ya game in, slide it back in and use the plastic thig again to move the catch across. Im a girl and if i could do that bit im sure youll have no trouble! Defo worth getting and the instructions should explain it all!!

the discs aint really a modchip - they are just discs designed to trick the ps2 into thinking that the legitimate disc is inserted.
Dont bother with the usb extreme one - it is designed to load off a 2.5 drive connected to the ps2 port. The ps2 port is only 1.1, and that is SLOW compared to discs. With the swap magic, at least, you can load the usb extreme one by burning your own copy (but not vice versa).

OORRR, if you are more technical minded, you can use the swap magic to create the ps2 memory card mod. I think that allows you to not use discs swap at all after!!

Yeah it was brought forward, 11:30 my hearing starts

If all goes well i'll be home tomorrow night, my solicitor is confident, he thinks i'll win my appeal but may only get a reduction in my time rather than getting it taken away completely.

You'll know tomorrow, if I don't log in at all tomorrow I didn't get off :-(

I take up to 2 Terabytes so it's got a lot of storage, most games are between 1-4 GB's so you can store plenty on there. The HDD needs to be a 3.5 IDE though

To get them on your PS2 you can either rip it straight from the disc, FTP it or put the HDD in your PC and copy it over that way.

ftping or disc method is best unless you know what your doing inside a pc case :-D

hey rediron, possible to turn ps2 into a media machine like original xbox ??

You need to get someone to copy the soft mod files onto your memory card and you need to have HDLoader on a USB stick

If you ask Tim he can help you with that

Then you put the HDD into the PS2, it will then format it. Then if you want to plug it into your PC to copy the games over you need to use a programme called WinHIIP

If your happy just ripping them from disk you can do that via the PS2

It is, there's a application called SMS media player, it's absolutely rubbish though and not really worth doing

You don't need to open your PC case by the way, you can use a HDD Caddy to copy them from your PC if you have one.

Lol, a PS2 wouldn't be able to run XBMC it only has a 300mhz processor whereas the Xbox has a 733mhz processor :p

No you need to connect your HDD to the PS2 network adapter so the HDD is internal and do it that way.

You can technically play games from a USB Hdd but the transfer speeds aren't fast enough, it needs to use the 3.5 IDE connection on the network adapter
#32
Nowt wrong with SMS.

Not all games will work properly booted from the internal HD. Last I checked (been a while) online play is also disabled when booting from the HD (deliberate).

I didn't think SMS was worth it, if you want to a cheap Media Centre Xbox is the way to go

Most games are compatible now as well, as long as you use the latest version of HDloader. Some games may need patching but if yu get them from the internet they are patched anyway. If not WinHIIP allows you to patch them yourself.

Some games play on-line, but most don't because of DNAS. There is a work around supposedly but I never bothered with it
