does it show up as controller 1 on the pad (lights on pad)?
#5

Press and hold the center button on pad1

Choices will appear -Turn off system reassign controller etc...

Select reassign controller and scroll with d pad up or down depending on the number you want asssigned..

Select 1

might help...................

thanks for your tips - keep them comin.
i tried that after initally turning the ps3 on, it doesnt seem to want to register anything else from the pad so i cant re-assign.
But whenever i turn the 2nd pad on i can still re-assign that to take its place as controller 1

I didnt need one when i got mine fixed, just said it was a gift.

Are you sure 3.0 borked it? Maybe it just broke.

Has this not happened to anyone else then?
It was working absolutely fine, then i got the firmware update, the ps3 turned itself off after, and then the pad doesnt work anymore?!

both mine work fine after 3.0

tbh, cant see how a software update would cause a hardware fault

i officially give up.
i took it to my brothers PS3, it synched up with the cable and worked fine there on his PS3 not yet firmware updated.
Brought it home again, with one of his pads, and it's the same old problem.Oh, except his pad also works, now im officially clueless as to what the problem is if its not the update

You will be less releaved when you hear what i just read.

Its not all white ceramic pads that are the problem is fake pads are that the issue. lol.
