Hi my partner's 60gb playstation 3 is now full up, so he can't play any of the games that I bought him for christmas until he gets a new hard drive.

Can anybody please recommend me one at a good price and how easy are they to install??

Thank-you in advance. :-)

You will also need an external usb drive to plug in if he wants to save his 60Gb of data as u will need this to make a backup and then once you have installed the new drive then do a restore to get his data back, dead easy to do from within the menu on the console

640Gb is a bit overkill if it's taken him all this time to fill up 60Gb !

You can save a few quid and get a 320Gb for £33.65

The Playstation website is pretty useful for advice about backing up and restoring your data. YouTube is useful for videos on the physical disk swap, it's pretty straighforward though.

I just ordered a 250GB on Monday from Scan @£33 all in . It arrived yesterday . Old 40Gb backed up to a FAT32 external drive , new drive fitted and formated , then restored data from external . Took about an hour , backup & restore took the longest to do . Easy to do , with a little help from a youtube video that was given on a previous post .

first off, delete all old game installs and demos. You'll be surprised how much space frees up.

To install a new Hard drive into the PS3 is pretty easy, I have upgraded mine to a 320GB HDD. If you look on you tube there are loads of videos. Just make sure you back up your data first.

And take extra care not to damage the screws, especially the blue plastic one. They strip very easily.
I used a pair of neddle head pliers to loosen them first, and now have a 500gb WD drive courtesy of Amazon.

there wasn't a screw at all in mine and the unit was just recently sent from Sony under the £131 exchange sceme . Doesn't stop it from working , but it's best to have a screw in .
