simple question really guys. do you think sony will meet the demand of the ps3, of will ebay be flooded with ps3's going for 2 or 3 times the rrp???

vote on the poll :)

also, are you tempted to pre-order a "spare 1" to profit on????

Wouldnt preorder a spare one just incase they do meet demand - but not getting one for self anyway.

Doubt they will meet demand, they are not as popular if you can get them easily and companies know this

I'm not intending on getting on at the prices they are charging. Not long ago brought a 360 and until the prices fall on the ps3 I will stick with that.

As for demand - they wont have enough for someone to walk in off the street and buy one I don't think.

Yea, these things fall in value pretty quickly when a better one comes out.

Wheres the option 'Who Cares?'. That would be my choice :giggle:

I was hoping there was a "Who cares, the PS3 is a overpriced sack of **** subsidising DRM infested and overpriced Blu-Ray technology"

Alas I did not see this option ;-)

That was quick! lol

Not just any old console tho! Its an overpriced piece of plastic with flashy lights!
This is probably the best way for it to be of actual use http://beconfused.com/images/2005/11/Ken%20Kutaragi%20is%20proud%20of%20Playstation%203.jpg

The launch lineup of games are not that spectacular either. I think quite a lot of people will be holding onto their money; until some decent titles are released and there's a drop in price.
#12
If Sony wanted to they could meet demand. Production of this has been ongoing for a long long time and they are not actually selling that well abroad so yes, if they wanted to they could fill every shops allowance and still have some left over.

This is gonna be the first console I have not bought on either pre-order or as soon as it comes out. To be blunt it "Doesn't do anything for me".
Its overpriced (in my opinion, and many games shop workers and techies )and will probably be glitchy as heck.

Thanks but no thanks, definatley a 'Who cares' here I'm afraid.

It'll sell out on launch, the Playstation brand is strong enough to ensure that. It sold out in the USA and Japan on day one, but since then demand has dropped.

But outside the hardcore gamers and people looking to pick up a cheap Blu-Ray player, I just can't see it selling for a while. Its expensive and it does not have a large library of games available for it at the moment. Perhaps into 2008 with a few price drops and some good titles being released we'll start to see it selling in larger numbers, but of course by that point where PS3 will be in the Console Wars chart is anyone's guess.

I think that there will be more that enough, especially when for £50, most shops GUARANTEE a launch console on the 28th March or whenever it comes out.
#16
it's overpriced for what it is.
Who'd pay a fortune for a glorified blu-ray dvd player when the format standard hasn't been decided yet?
#17
The format has been decided upon.

It's just by the time either is near mainstream, combo dual format drives will exist

and

by the time it is mainstream, your tv provider will have HD movies on demand anyways making expensive removable media option an expensive luxury.

...and if course there is no Xmas factor...

The decision not to make it backwards compatible with most PS2 games will also have a slight affect on demand.

I suspect that fair proportion of preorders are from people hoping to make some money from a shortage. If this shortage does not happen there could be a large number of cancellations just before launch day

Its a pretty good Blu-ray player, and have the price of a stand alone player.
#20
At that price is should record tv aswell lol
#21
i think they will hype it up by not meeting all the demand. i intend to get one but not for about a year or so, ive only just upgraded from ps2 to xbox 360.
#22
Who cares? 360 is the best.

I can't believe they've done that, I wasn't preordering a PS3 anyway but Sony seem to be trying to make it clear they really don't like Europe - we pay the most for a PS3, we get it last and we get an inferior version?!
