PS3 error "this save file is not yours and cannot be loaded"

After some advice please. Recently purchased a new PS3 (3.40), and ordered a Mimimus to jailbreak (yet to arrive). Although I have a PSN account, I haven't been able to sign into it on the new console, because each time I try, I get prompted for the new system update (which patches the jailbreak exploit).

Anyway I copied across my game saves from my previous console, and tried loading a file to play a game today. I keep getting the message "this save file is not yours and cannot be loaded". I've done a search, and from the sounds of things, because playing the game unlocks trophies, unless I'm logged into my PSN account (which stores all the achievement details) I'll have to start the game from scratch!

Can anyone advise otherwise? If this is the only way, then I'm going to be screwed on all my other games too! Does the jailbreak allow you to get around this issue?

Thanks

Was the other console under another PSN account name? And was it further ahead patch wise?

The account name would be the same if I could log onto the PSN without having to do the system update! Is there a way around this?! The other console was on the latest software (which enabled the 3D Blu-Ray playback)

Guess it patches the saves to be used. Just a guess now.

Logical guess...! Any way of signing into PSN without updating the system software?

Any Game Save that requires trophys is locked to that user/PS3 System , Game saves are no longer transferable unless it does not require trophy unlocks.

Only Way to get on PSN Is via a system update, But this would not fix your game save,

other way to get game save to work is to do a full system back up and then copy onto that ps3 and your save should work,

Copying a single save then onto another ps3 will not work

No.

Some game saves are locked to the console, and the only way to transfer to another console is by using the data transfer utility on the XMB.

The problem is, both PS3's must be running the same firmware to use this facility.

Thanks for that. Thats just pathetic - what's the point of a backup facility if it doesn't even work?!

Yes. http://jamestanner.co.uk/ps3/gamesaves.html have a look on that. It gives you instructions on how to edit saves

Updated my first post,

Erased the content on the 1st PS3 and sold it, but did a back up of the game saves on USB. If I understand things then, updating and logging onto the PSN won't resolve anything either, and so jailbroken or not, I have to restart the games(s) again?

Ah... cool! But according to the opening paragraph, it doesn't work on the slim PS3 apparently... Have you tried it and had success?

Aaaghh, never seen that before. Seems long winded, but the OP should be able to sort it out.

Nothing at the moment works to get 3.41 online. If it did, there would be alot of happy people

unfortunately not only when my ps3 prompted me to update i had a look online to see what the update was for and seen about the different ip/proxy whatever it was and then stupidly updated so now on 3.50 and hoping for a jailbreak for it some time soon lol i always thought game sves were locked in general bar a few games like pes where you can transfer the option file i used to use gamefaqs for saves but there is very few games that let you import saves on the ps3 but i have never tried using my own saves

looks like your going to have to play through again or try some of the ps3 forums but i dont see how you can recover your gamertag without updating as it has to download the trophies packs as well

Just found the solution!

I used the 67.202.81.137 DNS address to get access to the PlayStation store and link my console to my existing PSN Account. All the game saves now work as they should!

Thanks for the input and help All

i think the op means than he changed the dns or whatever as the ip is usually only the consoles address on your network as i said to the op google is your friend he seems to have found the info there im not trying to be a knob lol just as im on 3.50 its useless to me

I checked google myself and got many different answers and all were well outdated.

The DNS address is outdated, and I can't access the PSN store or play online, but it allowed me purely to link my console to the PSN network and "sign in" momentarily. This resolved my problem of not being able to load my game saves from my other console.
