Probably dusty inside. The PS3 is a magnet for it.

Compressed air spray or a hoover does the trick!

Get an intercooler maybe?

And no 360 fanboys getting a 360 will be much worse.

Probably a bearing on one of the fans. If the dust isn't the problem then maybe a call to Sony to see if they can help with a replacement, which I doubt, you maybe have to do this yourself.

Use the fan on the PS3 to blowout first.. then as above said use a hoover etc... also make sure the unit is well ventilated (not stuck inside an entertainment center etc )

1. remove any disc from the PS3.
2. turn off the PS3 - or in other words put into standby mode.
3. switch off the PS3 at the back.
4. While engaging the eject button, turn on the PS3 at the back.

This should now force the Fans to run at maximum and blow out any dust in the PS3... when done it'll beep... then you turn the PS3 off at the back again.
Then just turn the PS3 back on again.

You don't know much about a ps3 do you? HDD installs are mandatory. Except Uncharted 2 ;)

why does a simple thread like "PS3 Help please" always get the 360 fanboys jumping in?

It's life my friend soon they will be taking over and it'll be I Am Legend all over again with one guy with a PS3 and his pet PSP. :whistling:

since the update for software perfomance that the fan has become a bit noiser, yes the hoover works and quietens the ps3 (typo somewhere)

I think you mean FAN NOISE actually, both consoles suffer from fan noise, I was merely jesting at the ability to hear it over my cinema soundscape, which console I have is irrelevant.

There's much more fan noise on a 360 my friend. If you had your surround sound off which I do sometimes the 360 is FAR louder now please stick to the subject and try to help fix this problem otherwise I suggest you leave and I shall do the same, let's leave it at this.

too far, as I said it was in jest, I'm not contesting which makes more noise, cos it doesn't matter to me, as my shizzle is in a data cabinet.
