ps3 online games are free to play xbox you have to pay

360 by far.

I'd get the PS3 as it has the greater value and buy a 360 cos they're cheaper.

Incidentally if your after an Xbox 360 in preference over the PS3 you will make a profit by selling the PS3 to buy an Xbox 360 (if you get what I mean). Should leave you quids in.

PS3 is more expensive and there is a reason for that, you have to pay for the better quality, but as you get it free, go for it (PS3) ;-)
banned#8
ps3 isnt going to cost you anything extra
where as xbox your going to have to pay for online and pay extra for the wireless adapter and of course its guaranteed to break with RROD or some other problem

so the obvious choice is a PS3

xbox is the past! ps3 is the future!

Why does every PS3 owner feel that people need to buy a wireless adapter for the xbox???

Btw i own both

Thanks all for quick replies. Didn't really have any preference beforehand. Thought as PS3 was more expensive it must be better but so many people rave on about the 360 so really was unsure.

Looks so far that PS3 is the more popular option.

i own both to but i think xbox is no where near as good as ps3
only reason im keeping it is for exclusives

and as for wireless adapter everything is about being wireless now days

Think PS3 still just ahead. BTW, it's the 80gb and comes with Singstar & 2 mics (or GT5 for additional £23).
#20
Get the PS3... If you don't like it put it on ebay, because its worth more you'll get enough to buy an xbox...

Depends on how you plan to use either one.

For me it would be PS3, I use my PS3 nearly everyday of the week. I prefer it for upscaling DVD's, playing Blu-ray's, watching/recording freeview(optional PlayTV). Also has a webrowser allowing you to watch BBCiPlayer and other video sites (youtube, South park/simpsons eps on video sites etc etc). I also play the odd game lol - though the library is not as strong as Xbox 360 is currently.

As a pure games machine I would buy Xbox 360 over a PS3, especially if I played online more often as Xbox live - though additional cost - is miles better than the PS3 equivalent.
One thing to add is that multiformat games often run slightly better on the Xbox 360 imo

Horses for courses, what do you want to do with either one?

Would be mainly for games, plain and simple. Useful for dvd's and blu-ray (dont own any currently as the players sem to be near the £200 mark - maybe thats a good bonus?)

Occasionaly use the web through my Wii but have laptop anyway.

Games cheaper on 360, maybe not as good then?? Loads more available though.

OMG - Ahhhhh - Which one ?????

The PS3 80gb comes with Singstar and MIcs. The 360 Elite comes with COD4

Yeah I got a mint 32" Sony Bravia. The IMAX sequences in The Dark Kight Blu-ray are pretty astounding.

It loves being attached to my PS3

I think it does a great job of upscaling standard DVD's. I find my PS3 is quieter than the 360 too.

So is the PS3 worth it for blu-ray. I am right in thinking the players are around £200+ aren't I? U thinking PS3 then?

Lol mannnn, put me on the spot - I find it hard to decide cos I like and own both.

Blu-ray players on they're own are around the £200 mark.

Xbox 360 has got loads of great cheap games available though.

As you used the C-word then it has to be the PS3 - just incase you wanna sell to make profit.

Personally 360, much bigger games collection, more exclusives. All the multi-platforms work best on the 360, and can easily stream from your windows pc to it for music and video.

Yes its not wireless out the box, but its still able to get online from the box. PS3 stuff is much more expensive because its not being produced in such large quantities.
#33
As it's free, PS3 no question. However, I think the 360 is better as a console. You do have to pay for Xbox Live, but it's not much, and the online service is far superior in my opinion.

However Blu Ray playback is a big plus for the PS3, and if you decide you don't like it you could always sell it and buy an Elite anyway.
#34
Xbox is far superior online. The only cool thing about an xbox deal is the owners!!

Get a 360, the reason you pay for Online is the FACT its better. If you want a console for funnily enough gaming Xbox 360 is the way forward. On Xbox people chat, you make great friends and heck even catch up with mates you wouldn't normally talk to that often. With the credit crunch Sony will soon realise they also need to charge for their online services!

And before it starts yes Sony people can chat, but my mates who have got the PS3 never chat and they're no where near impressed with online gaming as 360 Owners which just shows on the PSN its shoddy!!!

I would personally get a PS3 and sell it on, since you could buy a 360 starting from £80 these days and then use the profit of selling the PS3 to buy some worldclass games.

The games IMO are slightly better and generally cheaper on the 360 anyway and even though you have to pay for online, you could find 13 months subscription for under £30 and have a much better online experience.

Hope that helps.

Cheers everyone for your help, opinions etc.

I own both.

Play 360 all the time, some off-line but mostly online. Barely play PS3 but do watch the odd BR if get hold of one cheap.

PS3 lacks a headset out of the box which is a big issue for me and also lacks an HDMI cable which is just bizarre. 360 doesn't have wifi out of the box but at least came with an ethernet cable.

I answer this the same as I answer the others 'get what your friends have'. No point getting that fancy console then finding you have no-one to go online with.

I would say PS3 because it is a much more well rounded machine (High Def movies, online, games, etc Genuine multimedia capabilities straight out of the box) but sadly it's not as straight forward! I own a Wii and a PS3 and absolutely love my Sony machine but have found myself annoyed that most of my friends have an Xbox (and play online a lot) and I don't. The 360 and PS3, graphically, side by side look almost identical, on some games maybe Xbox slightly edges it. Like most people have mentioned Xbox charges for online play (and a who host of extras) but is far superior to the PS3 in that department (if not for the technology, for the sheer amount of people who have Xbox's...Who said dropping the price won't make a difference?! ) but...Those Bluray discs are so damn amazing and will simply blow you away if you are a movie buff!

Like some have mentioned, the best course of action would probs get a PS3 and if you don't like, auction it and buy a Xbox 360...After all they are practically giving them away! LOL!

Edd

P.S. Don't bother with the Wii...Novelty wears of very quickly...
