Would be nice to get a clearer look at old classics for the dreamcast.

With the new lightguns.

This is Living (dangerously).

I still play my Dreamcast. I was playing Rez the other night on it on my Projector.
A very underated console imo...
#8
finally i can download gitaroo man and play it on ps3
[mod]#9
used to love my dreamcast
#10
looks like the ps3 is finally coming into its own. huge sales with the slim and finally adding ps2 games to the PSN, as well as exclusive dreamcast titles. 10 year ps3 plan and how far are we into it?

......slow but cant complain at this news, plantasy star online for dreamcast was immense back in the day
#11
not sure how a dreamcast game would pan out on ps3 controller. The fighting games would be better that's for sure! Street fighter alpha 3 dreamcast edition on ps3 would be win.
#12
PS2 games, does this mean they're re-introducing backwards compatibility or is it a PSN only screw the consumer job?
#13
One of the reasons the Dreamcast failed was its lack of quality games.........should feel right at home on a PS3 then. :D
#14
so if i already own ps2 games i have to pay again to play them on the ps3?! nice one

Probably the reason they took it out FRB
#16
The rest of it looks sorta like a kids notebook plan to take over the world or to get a date with a girl at school he fancies.

Ever heard of Xbox Live Arcade? or the playstation games on PSN? Or even Games On Demand?
banned#18
If its true,

Gran turismo 3 here we ****ing go!!!
#19
Not surprising that ps2 will be available on all ps3
Why do you think they kept the ps1 and ps2 internal memory card thing?

or you could play the games you already have on your ps2 and then purchase the ones you dont have via the psn........if you actually want them

pretty simple really:roll:

...or the Wii Virtual Console?

If you are offended having to buy titles you already own; why not just play them on the console they were originally intended for? You don't have to buy them again.

Then again, I have lost count how many gadgets I have "Wolfenstein 3D" on now! :)

And that begs the question - Why keep the ability to make a ps2 memory card? Hmmmm........

When I played in a previous (Sony Europe-provided) Beta it was riddled with our US cousins from 1am, so I expect you will probably find the limeys playing mid-afternoon onwards.

I'm not a fan of playing old games............i often think i am till i get them and i then remember why i'm now playing next-gen titles and have moved on. lol

I prefer the new stuff they put on Live Arcade and PSN

Rez is a fantastic game, the XBLA port is superb which I still enjoy playing through.

You cannot blame them for trying to get a piece of the pre-owned market.

By selling digital download titles with convenient access (i.e. not having to leave the comfort of your favourite gaming chair, not even to collect the delivery from the postman) means some money goes back to the publishers & development teams.

Buying pre-owned (or trading on internet forums ) means just one set of revenue goes to the various original sources. With less profit from the game titles, there is less incentive to make new games &/or increase budgets for production next time around.

The prices of the downloadable games will also be set slightly higher that typical retail (high street &/or online) prices so that the bricks'n'mortar organisations still show an interest in carrying the consoles. If the PlayStation Store undercut the Recommended Retail Price, then no customers would ever turn up in GAME, GameStation, Blockbuster, HMV, Asda, Tesco, or wherever to buy the game titles, as the pre-owned section in GAME, for instance, accounts for a large percentage of the total sales in-store. Losing that market overnight will be a huge problem for the retailer.

The PSP Go titles will also have a similar pricing structure online so that the retailers who are the current distribution channels for the games are motivated to sell that console too.

Digital download only is coming though.

I thought it was relevant. You will need to store the saved games from the downloaded PSN titles, and without an additional USB peripheral [that, fortunately I bought in the first week of ownership of my European Release Day 60Gb PS3! :)] you cannot read from existing PS2 (or PS1) memory cards.

I would imagine the powers that be would try to make the new feature compatible with existing saved games on the hard drive of the (backward compatible) PS3.

Cheers fan!

Yeah bit strange as a guy on my friends list was playing it yesterday, i went into the join friend menu and it was shaded out grey even though he was in-game. The only thing i could think of was that i couldn't join because he was a different faction. :?

Maybe his faction was full?

That is another niggle I had wih the game. The lobby had very little indication about what to do, or what to expect to see, how long you had to wait, & so on. Is it still the same?

PS. If anybody missed out on an invitation to the M.A.G Beta there is some hope...

"If You Registered For Euro MAG Beta, You WILL Get A Code"
---
It may very well be the most anticipated beta test of the generation and absolutely everyone wants a taste. We found that during our MAG beta code giveaway, when we received about 750 wallpaper submissions in the span of only 72 hours (all codes are gone, by the way).

But if you're in Europe, it's plenty easy to snag a spot in the testing. If you haven't already received one of the 16,000 codes SCEE was giving away, have no fear: you'll get one, so long as you registered. According to TheSixthAxis, European SOCOM and MAG producer Shijima has confirmed that if you registered to get a code before and haven't seen one yet, it will be on its way very, very soon:

"I can confirm that everyone in all regions who registered but never received their code will be sent one over the course of tomorrow, probably by 2-3pm UK time. Furthermore, in an effort to try and do a Quantum Leap (put right what once went wrong), we will be sending out codes to the remaining 20,000-odd people who registered. So, if you managed to register on the site before the competition closed, I am told that you WILL get your code tomorrow."

Yeah, in this particular case, European gamers certainly aren't getting the short end of the stick. And the more people flood into this beta, the more everyone will become psyched for the final product (and the better Zipper Interactive can test the stability of those servers). We'd like to tell you we could just grab another set of codes for everyone here in the US but hey, at least 100 diligent dudes are in 'cuz of us. That's something. ;)

Bummer. Is Qore any good apart from that?

There is a geezer here who is looking for one if you have a spare:

A MAG Beta code going spare?

I don't have one either :)
