32% smaller, 36% lighter and consumes 34% less power than the original PLAYSTATION 3 models.

I am looking at the photo's on the Amazon website and the new Slimline PS3 looks wider ( left to right when standing upright ) the the older version.

As for height, it is a little bit smaller.

Depth ( when lying flat ) it seems to be reasonably smaller than the older model.

It just doesn't seem much smaller in comparison if the photo is accurate.

As for using less power, I have read here that the comparison is made against the old 60GB PS3 which was more power hungry.

Just interested to see what others think.

For me it wouldn't work very well as I have mine sitting flat in a unit and the door would not close with the new model as it is a very tight fit indeed.

Apparently there are overheating issues too, something to be aware of. There's a price drop coming for the old model, with a 120GB hard drive; once that happens I'll be picking up one of them.

Length of it is more so it will probs stick out your TV unit like a sore thumb.

I think the slimline is minging if it's the one hubby showed me, I like the big, chunky, shiny black finish best, I am not spending his hard earned cash on some half job for the bedroom for his bday:thumbsup:

^^Yeah that's the one, I like the big one, much bigger, much shinier :)

"In the physical sciences, mass and weight are different properties. Mass is a measure of the amount of matter in the body while weight is a measure of the force on the object caused by a gravitational field."

I think I know what I'm talking about, only think :whistling:

Thankfully I'm not needing to transport mine anywhere as the old ones are indeed heavier, and I like heavy, makes me think I got my moneys worth.

You misunderstood I think, I was praising your use of mass correctly, since most people use weight to describe a value of kg.

Sorry, double misunderstanding, I realised that you were praising me and on re reading my reply It does sound like I was getting all uppity but honestly I wasn't, I was just continuing the discussion.

Just being my old pedantic self...

Is that your girl in the avatar or just some bird who happened to be passing in a club when your mate had his camera handy, because she is quite fit. Of course that is actually myself in my avatar, slightly hung over but me nonetheless...
