Just received my Seagate (expansion) External hard drive 1TB, from Amazon.

Plugged into my PS3 slim and it doesn't display the hardware?
but when i use a USB it does!!!

Anyone got any idea???

is it formatted to FAT32?

How is the hard drive formatted?
If its NTFS it wont be recognised.

You have to format it to FAT32, PS3 doesn't support NTFS

If you are running vista, best way to format to FAT32 is by using this...

Put the .exe in windows/system32 folder and then right click and run as an administrator, that should do it.

Ive had to do the same thing this week so did my homework :)

yea i'd heard good things about that, for some reason though it wouldnt work for me!
Either way will be quicker than using the command prompt though, thats for sure!

plus im only assuming the OP is running vista...

Thanks everyone...... looks like something to do with formatting it from NTFS to FAT32. ........ if i convert it to FAT32 , can i convert it back to NTFS ?? .........:whistling:

You can convert back and forth, even have part of it NFTS, part FAT32, part...

Yep, like everyone else has said...Format to FAT32...

Id recommend you install Tversity on your comp too, works great with PS3! :thumbsup:

partition it and have half as FAT32 and half as NTFS (or whatever percentage). FAT32 cant store files bigger than 4GB

Took everyones advise........... Finally got it sorted out and now its up and running with my ps3 !!!....:-D......... REP must be given to all !!............:thumbsup:
