Anyone have issues?

Never had issue's at uni on Virgin media at all. Both homehubs 1.0, and 2.0 have exact same issues.

Has a very bad affect on gaming. Quite annoying tbh.. No fix it seems!!

Open the ports on the router that Black OP's uses.

Tried it all ways. Even putting the damned PS3 in DMZ - Which has it's own problems. The ps3 can't access the network.

Oh yeah, it's NAT type 2 aswell which is widely regarded as being Open!

Strange my PS3 has not had a problem with the router, mines a 60gb on the latest firmware.

Will this fix the crappy frame rate on the PS3?

Very strange, i guess your on BT too? It state's what the NAT is when you play black ops, on the multiplayer screen - Sure it says open?

I'm not sure what you mean?

I don't have black OPs on the PS3 but never had a problem with it's brother Modern Warfare 2, I did have problems with an orange router when mutiple consoles were on, my brother on his xbox and mine on second always caused a problem with the NAT, the first console on always had NAT open.

What's your setup?

PS3 - (ethernet) - router
PS3 - (wireless) - router
PS3 - (intermediary PC/laptop) - router

You should try again with the DMZ. Make sure your PS3 has a static IP set and you enter that IP as the DMZ in your router settings page.

What is NAT type and what does it affect?
#11
you got a Nat type 2 the best Nat you can get via a modem-router /router, A modem by itself would give Nat type 1 [on ps3] Nat type 1 & 2 on ps3 is the same as Open on xbox 360 NAT/ STATUS

log into router enable dhcp/ enable upnp save/reboot. on ps3 use auto settings for ip / dns . take out any ports you have forwarded in port forwarding section in router to do with ps3/ wipe out virtual servers assigned to a ps3 service, get rid of the IP in the DMZ associated with ya ps3. power off back on.
Test the network on the ps3 to see if you still get nat type 2 with upnp being available on the wired connection and wireless then choose the one you want to use and setup auto ip/dns.

If you still get strict then power off your modem/router wait 15 seconds power back on and test connection again and see what black ops tells you.

see if there is a firmware update for the homehub making sure you get the right version

BTW your strict Nat will only affect your ability to communicate with friends/ joining of certain games hosted / eg trying to join sessions initiated by your Friends or whereby your friends are on a server you would like to play along with.

Lag is something else apart from serious bugs in firmware etc

check in the advanced settings to see if bt have turned on "interleaving" on the dsl line, for some reason they have randomly done this to me twice despite being 200yds from the exchange.
plays havoc with games..

this works for me i have had to do it since the game came out, it did start working after one update but then after the next update i had to start doing the mw2 trick.

also with bt, will check out interleaving now maddogb

Just remember you may be 200 yards from exchange but your line may take the long way round to exchange and also that interleaving will give a more stable connection but raises ping time (this is not lag as such) fastpath reduces ping but may make you drop your connection a lot especially with a lot fec/hec errors ... (this is worse when a long line with hight attenuation is involved and if a short line with good attention and good signal to noise ratio then interleaving should not be needed.

Cheers for the heads up! Fortunately, i have a copy of MW2, but that's at uni! So that solution will have to wait till Jan! I'll have a play later on. Been messing around with it for around 2 hours today, nightmare. If i only I had a spare modem/router. Would probably sort the issues out.

In DMZ, router firewall OFF... NAT Type: Strict. JOKE.
#18
So, wait, is this a homehub issue? or an issue with black ops servers? or a combination of both? surely if it was the homehub then it wouldn't work at all... regardless of messing about with different discs?
Just a thought.

Just got back to uni, NAT is now Open....

You could save yourself a lot of issues and get yourself an Xbox 360 ;-)
