It will be a 60gb as it's a release day console

Basically the same as RROD. Might be worth looking into fixing it yourself.

No special tool needed to open ps3.

sell it on ebay as faulty and buy a used one of someone. there are many 40gb around for just under 200 and you can get £80 fo your faulty one.

Defo worth repairing. Strange them ones don't usually suffer from that usually the 40gbs.
#12
They don't usually repair, they'll charge you £150 for a replacement.
(Old PS3 + £150 = Recon unit)

Your talking garbage now.

I've had my 60gb repaired.

Best off to phone them unless they have changed there policies. You could ask them to repair the console as its a 60gb, I said to them I don't want a replacement console I want mine fixed as its a 60gb.

Not sure why you are being so rude?

I said they usually charge £150 and want your old console. I also said that I have never heard them charge any other price. You get a 60GB in return.

How much did Sony charge you to repair your 60GB console? How long ago?

I phoned them a month ago.

The price does vary depending on the fault in my experience.

What kind of prices have you been quoted for varying work? Are they recent prices on a 60GB?

Not being rude at all, your talking rubbish.

This was in Feb of this year. They replaced the part only.

£99 returned. Same console I took down the S/N.

As Midlands has pointed out phone them up for a qoute, and explain what you want.

So what you doing about it then?:?
banned#23
i would get it repaired, 60gb are a rare breed
#24
I know for a fact Sony are now charging £100 for a repair. Rung them just last week on a unit that had a knackered Blue-Ray and a knackered HDD. Thats the price i got quoted and they stated it would be gone for up to 21 days for REPAIR not replacement. I think in light of every1 abusing the Continuous Play scheme they have had a rethink, so perhaps Saint you are right up to a few weeks back coz i know people that had had a quote of £150 months ago but i think new prices have come in.
#25
My 60gb release day failed in April, called them up and they collected and repaired for free.
#26
i rang them and was told to fax my receipt to a supervisor, but i told them id bought it in April last year and they still said they would replace it for me free. They should replace it as its a fault of theirs,. On my thread someone posted the sales of goods acts which said it should work up to 6 years or something.
#27
I had my 40gb replaced early last year. Rang them and all they asked for was the serial number and the date I bought it. They didn't ask for a receipt or anything. They replaced it for free and it only took a few days.

Maybe because the 40gb was out for less than a year?
