basically my ps3 system update failed halfway through installing so i restarted it and it went straight to installing the update. the update gets to 43% then throws a 8002f14e error at me telling me to unplug the power cord and try again after a couple of minutes but it does the same thing again.... gets to 43% and errors

seeing as i dont have another ps3 would i be able to hook the ps3 hardrive upto my pc and format it and start from scratch?
i dont know weather 2.5" hardrives use the same power as 3.5"???
thats what im getting at
i want to hook the ps3 hardrive upto the pc via sata

I don't have the answer to your question, but I would try and get another 2.5" HDD if at all possible, and use that and see if it will allow you to update your PS3(I doubt it).

That way, you can save the data on your current one.

im trying everything at the minute, theres nothing important on the drive as i formatted it
i dont have a spare drive to test
im trying to update via usb stick but im not having any luck

only thing i can think is to format the drive from a pc, its harder than it seems though

It may be easier to take it to a friends house who has a PS3 and format it in theirs.

Can you redownload the update to a usb drive and try and update it from that just incase the original download was the problem
