Been using my PS3 for ages on SD tv as a media player but want to put it back on my plasma.

But it wont reset picture, it does the beeps as it should but nothing happens.

Tried plugging it back into sd tv(which I stopped using as I broke the scart cable) and as my cable is faulty I cant do much, my cable works but I have to wiggle it to stay in place and as soon as I let go I lose pic.

So I cant rely on that method to change picture to HDMI manually.

Is there a step by step guide that I can use(only a few steps needed really) so I know to say press left 5 times to get to settings, then down 10 times, then X etc.

So anyone with a PS3 can tell me.

Sorted it out now anyway thanks, reckon I have a faulty cable or socket since I tried wobbling cable at back of tv to make sure it was connected and it seemed fine, then at back of ps3 and it seemed fine, then took the hdmi cable out of pc and into ps3 and it worked right away and the other one I tried in PC and it didnt work till I wiggled cable.

Thanks for help.

That's not the recovery menu, it's simply the menu to switch to HDMI.

Ah sorry.

I see now.
You don't need to bring up the recovery menu to change to HDMI.

All you need to do is press and hold the power button when switching on. It will beep once intially, then again about 5 seconds later.
After the 2nd beep, it will say "An HDMI lead was detected..."

There's no need to go into the recovery menu to switch from an SD TV to HD.
