You can try and fix it if you have any technical ability.
Sony will replace it with a refurbished(will look brand new) 60GB for £131.

tempted i just dont want to cock it up and lose out lol, might try ring sony a few times and see if they can offer a deal of some sort as heard they sometimes replace for free

oven bake it mate.

150/160degrees for 15minutes put back together, redo the thermal paste = sorted.
Mine worked for 4 months before YLOD reappeared.

prefer a more "safer and longer " fix, might just use thermal paste + heat guns and fix it
