    Well im interested, but i think its going to be at least £280 and is the 3G going to be free or will we have to take out a data plan.

    I reckon 3G is going to have to be the same as a Kindle. However, if there was plenty of online support then I suppose I would pay for a PSN+ subscription but more than likely would just use the WIFI.

    This looks so good, Im going to start saving now :D

    I found this part rather interesting.
    23:36 Jeff Rubenstein, PlayStation.Blog - "Now we're going to show Dungeon Defenders"

    23:36 Jeff Rubenstein, PlayStation.Blog - I've played a build of this game on PS3... apparently it was ported to NGP in about a week!

    Cue portable versions of PS3 games, Uncharted 2 on the move, killzone 3 on the bus. Developers will love that. if they can stay close to the 3DS price they may do well. how much is the 3DS is it £249 ish?

    Id pay anywhere up to £300 on launch considering what you get. Imagine if Sony actually allowed you to stream games from your PS3 to the NGP... it would be insane. I also like the SIXAXIS feature. Uncharted is going to be so good.

    I hope they also let you use existing PSN accounts (i.e. PSX classics and available PSP games). Id be buzzing for the new games but part of me would love to session Final Fantasy IX if they let you use the analogue sticks :)

    It looks to be making all the same mistakes the PS3 did packing it full of non-gaming features which will no doubt push the price sky high. The PS3 only really started to sell well once Sony had stripped it down and dropped the price as people clearly didn't want to pay for the extra features.

    Sad thing is it's downloadable media which will see ridiculous prices for games on the PSN store and with the 3DS coming out as well it may well be a early death for the machine.

    Would be interested in Uncharted for it but i wouldn't pay more than £20 for a handheld game and with no shops selling them it will sit at about £40.

    Games are going to be released in stores on a form of proprietary flash memory cards :)

    What?

    Digital Downloads & Memory Card 'Cartridges' = Gaming
    Trophies = Gaming
    3G = Gaming
    Friends List = Gaming
    Microphone = Gaming
    Streaming = Gaming

    I don't get where your non-gaming features come from?

    You mean the PS3 really looked more appealing when backward compatibility with PS2 titles was removed, the integral memory card slots dropped, & two USB ports were taken away?

    I think the price was probably the most important factor, not the features (of lack of them). Also when the platform gained more desirable & exclusive titles sales improved.

    However, more features (either software or hardware) means more risk of failure.

    If you are going to call something "Next Generation" anything you need to future-proof it for a number of years. There will be a premium to be paid for the technology by the "early adopters".

    I would imagine "Uncharted 2.5: Drake's Portable Adventure" is probably going to be a launch title.

    It may even be episodic-based; new downloadable content on a monthly basis so the cost can be spread across a period of time & sales of both the console & the title increase as word-of-mouth spreads.

    When the prices are released I may change my mind, but from what I have seen/read so far I would like to get one at launch.

    And you?

    I was hoping the "PSP Phone" (Codename: Zeus) or "Sony Ericsson Xperia Play" was going to get mentioned (with release date[s] & price[s]) today as I have been waiting to replace my dead iPhone 3GS for almost two months (& I do not want another iPhone... ever!).

    With Android integration & 3G (camera[s] & microphone] on-board with the "NGP" there is obviously some cross-over functionality between the two devices.

    "Skype" on my PSPgo is only really a fall-back option.

    Only if i have some kind of windfall, can't justify it to Mrs Sennasnit, having said that i still play my PSP 1000 every week and have done since release. Angry Birds, Fieldrunners and Zombie Tycoon current faves. There are some real hidden gems in the minis section.

    Im in the same boat really. Personally Id pay £300 on launch for it (with a game bundle maybe) but I can see it only selling well if it hits the £220 mark. For it to cost over 50% more than a PS3 Slim would be an outrageous. However, the PS3 ports are what is making it for me plus Im actually a fan for the larger size. I have quite big hands and even the current PSP models are a bit small :P

    Im not a fan of the iPhone/iPad either (gaming wise). Epic Citadel (just a visual demo) and Angry Birds are nothing compared to MGS4 or Uncharted on the PSP2. Phone wise I prefer my HTC Desire over my old 3GS.

    Im actually quite excited for this. Gaming wise - near PS3 graphics (PSP2) > near Gamecube/Wii graphics (3DS). Dual Analogue sticks, the trophy system, 3G, 5" OLED Screen > 3D screen. Just my personal preferences but I am definitely holding out for one of these.

    Can't go wrong with angry birds at all

    I for one would wait and see how the finished product is and testing it before parting with my cash on a psp2 ( ngp )

    On the ps phone ( zeus ) if I can play psp go games on it and price is under £350-300 I may consider buying it.

    if its £250+ i cant see alot of people willing to buy it. I dont really mind about the larger size since it all goes in the bag the same. What i do want to know is the feeling of holding this thing (i think that the larger size helps it to be quite comfortable) for 1-2 hours.
    Flash memory cards is a good choice, assuming that it is cheaper to make than umd and it reads faster than it as well.
    Also, they also added alot of things users have asked for which is nice, but tbh the only thing i wanted was the second nub. they went further and improved the nub into analogue sticks.

    Lastly the games. Aint seen much on the interweb but they say its quite good. Also, the current minis are actually quite nice for short bursts of gameplay - I hope sony expands on this into the portable and do this itunes style.#

    edit: found a vid of uncharted on ngp:

    Integration with PlayStation Network "Friends" so you can send/received messages via 3G will be a good selling feature as well.

    I raised it as a request at the official PlayStation Blog Share [ http://blog.us.playstation.com/2010/03/17/introducing-playstation-blog-share/ ] some time ago so that you could organise gaming nights ("Killzone 2", "Singstar", or whatever) during office hours :)

    Trophies for PlayStation Portable titles will also be a selling point for the device.

    The potential for "cloud computing" gaming will draw many punters too.

    Yeah I'd always thought that would be a good feature, you can obviously do it via remote play, but thats kinda pointless.

    Only if you have a WiFi connection & sufficient access to your home-based PS3.

    3G support will open up a whole new world of downloading PlayStation Store content remotely so that when you return home on Wednesday everything will be already be ready to play instead of having to wait hours to share contention ratios with everybody else.

    (I'm hoping none of these features are exclusive to "PlayStation Plus" subscribers, though)

    What would be an extremely cool feature, now that the Playstation portable has a 960 x 544 resolution screen and dual analogue sticks, would be the ability to use remote play, to actually play your (installed or the one disc that happens to be in your console) PS3 titles from anywhere, (assuming the 3G connection can handle the video feed), as the 'NGP' has (probably) all the controller inputs that your DUALSHOCK 3 or SIXAXIS contollers do.

    At this point the keen-eyed among you will be crying: "Wait, what about the analogue R2 and L2 buttons?" and this is where I point out that the touchpad on the back could be used to simulate the analogue effect of R2 and L2 button by pressing and then sliding your finger down the back.

    (Whether the analogue sticks have clickable R3 and L3 buttons though is a different kettle of fish.)

    To me no, but to the market yes. Your post makes little sense as features and price are directly related to each other, the lower price was a direct result of stripping out those features. Clearly the market wasn't bothered about the features otherwise the stripped down PS3's wouldn't have have been the success they were over their better specced predecessors.

    The Xperia X10 had an rrp of over £400 and even equalising the SoCs for their respective ages, the NGP still has a lot more hardware so I can't see the NGP being particularly cheap given Sony have said they won't make a loss on the hardware sale (although I can't see that lasting long).
