I went to see a customer last night and she had a PSP that she could not got on the internet.

I went through it and input the settings WEP key SSID and all the Address Settings to Automatic.

It kept coming up saying that the Connection had Timed out!

Does anyone know why this might be the WEP key was long. Is there a limit on the PSP? Also the PSP could see the network ok just could not connect.

I was stumped any ideas out there?

will it connect if you temp turn off the security?
i spent ages trying to connect my nephews PSP to his router only to eventually find that the wifi on the PSP was knackered. apparently common fault wi them

if that happens its usually your wep key you've typed in is not correct sometimes theres two wireless keys on the router so double check that you typed in the correct one

Thanks for the pointers.
I will let her know and she can give these a go.
I am hoping that the wireless is not knackered as it did pick up the network just did not connect.

I have been looking on some forums and I can not find the answer to this question.
DOES THE PSP WITH V3.80 FIRMWARE HAVE THE ABILITY TO CONNECT TO A 802.11G ONLY NETWORK?

Sorry to shout it but I just can not find a definite answer and it is ******* me off!

It looks like it may be the router that is the issue. I think that it may be set to the wrong mode (b rather than b & g).

It's unlikely to be the router at fault re protocol (b or g) as the connection is dictated by the device, if it's a b type device it will connect at b protocol, assuming no fault present
Usual problem with wifi devices is the security issue as the manuf's don't stick to any one standard of auto negotiation on security protocols.
If the router is set to WPA/WEP set it manually to wep and double check the key

Try this. Good luck!

-Try to using static routing on home networks - it helps a lot.

so did mine. i could see the network SSID but even with all security turned off and the router set to 11b it simply would not connect. in the end his friend brought another PSP over and that connected first time. we changed every single setting on the PSP to match his friends and it still wouldn't connect.
