Hey all!

I recently tried to upgrade the firmware on my PSP but it crashed in the middle of the process and now won't play any games from my memory card :(

Would somebody be willing to sort it out for me if I cover the cost of postage both ways? I have completely lost the plot when it comes to these things and would rather have someone doing it who knows what they are doing!!

It's continous play isn't it? They paya fixed fee a year to Sony to replace broken consoles and theres no upper limit on the amount you can replace - it's under review as we speak as Sony have withdrawn the service.

I imagine if sony refuse to change it you'll get your psp back with a note saying sorry and a refund - if they do swap it you'll just pay the fee, the seller has nothing to lose...

I believe you can now flash 3000's... I just upgraded mine (2000 slim n lite) to 5.50 Gen B to play fifa a couple of days before release...

Have you tried pandora to fix it?

It was posted on here the other day,the feedback seems fab.

Some said perhaps they are sending the old ones off to Sony etc,i still don't know how it works:?

What do you mean by continuous play - I'm not sure of the ins and outs of what Sony have done (or are stopping)? Could you explain it a bit further?

As previously mentioned I am a complete noob with this sort of stuff - I gave it to a respected member and friend on here to do a couple of times then I thought I would try it myself. NOT AGAIN!!

Not sure of all the terminology and ways and whereabouts, if it can be modded then I can't see of a reason why I shouldn't go with this eBay offer, can you?

continuous play no longer exists

There used to be a great service offered by Sony. Your could pay a fixed fee per annum to have "insurance" on your PS3, PSP, or PS2 console(s) so that if any failed they would be replaced.

People took the mickey with buying up broken consoles on eBay & passing them off as their own, thus paying minimal cost for a new (or refurbished) replacement.

Spoiled the service for all the honest folk.

So the psp works it just doesn't play games from the memory card. It sounds like you have updated to official firmware. Was it on CFW before the firmware upgrade? it may just need reflasing to CFW i am in leicester if you are local i will reflash for you it will only take around 5 mins to do

Thanks for the offer mate but I'm in Bristol!

It was on firmware m-33 something or other and I tried to upgrade it to m-40 something? Sorry for being vague but I can't remember the exact numbers.

How would you reflash it? To be honest I think it may be easier to go through that eBay auction and get a new one!

FYI:

From one of my previous comments (dated 5 March 2009) in another thread...
---
Sony have (in the last month, contrary to the article I have transposed below) taken a harder stance on free replacements, though; especially on units outside of the original 12 month warranty period.

I wonder if they have been hit with many people trying the same trick as you have quoted, Eddie, and legitimate claims are now being rejected.

News: Sony 'extended' warranty PS3

By Roderick on 03-01-2009 at 12:23

Recently we reported on the attention RADAR has put into the problem that a group PlayStation 3 owners with the system in much or little use, some PS3's after a period of time, a broken lens BluRay discs and read so no more.

No problem, thought everyone, even to Sony or even call the store and then I get a new one.

It was based on the statutory two-year warranty, but Sony was only one year.

The choice was: 198 euros to pay for a repaired or a new purchase.

Since many complaints flowed in RADAR decided it an item in their program to dedicate.

Meanwhile, we continue for a while and we learn from our own environment that Sony will pay off with the guarantee of the PS3 has done.

Sony has, to our sources, a letter sent to the Netherlands where retailers make it clear however that Sony will repair for free PS3's older than one year.

Through the help desk is the Sony colleague Stefan succeeded his half-year-old 60 gigabyte PS3 costs to replace.

So see you again, consumers know their benefits programs, though they are sometimes harsh.

Yep it's in the right place and everything!

To be honest I think I may go through with the aforementioned auction on eBay, does anyone know how long it will take for the PSP 3000 to be made "moddable"!?
