PSP or Wii

Maybe a bit of a difficult question here but.....

I'm looking to get a new games console and thought I'd decided on the PSP slim and lite, however the Wii seems to be jumping out at me all the time.

I've always had playstations as my games console (1 and then 2), so should I...

a. Go for a PSP slim and lite
b. Invest a bit more money and get a Wii
c. Wait a while until there are more games and the console is cheaper and get a PS3

Also, are the usual games you get for the PS2/PS3 available for the Wii? For example, will Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 be released on the Wii?

Thanks in advance for any comments and advice

Pro will be released on the Wii but will obviously be completely different to the other console versions and will include a new control system because the Wii's controls are different to the other consoles. I'd say go for the Wii or PS3 but if you're into handheld gaming and would play on a handheld more often then maybe you should go for the PSP

Well, the handheld gaming part is what first attracted me to the PSP, however, the Wii is really standing out due to being very innovative and unique.

And i suppose if games i like don't get released on the Wii, i could just get it for the PSP

I would wait and get a PS3 tbh, unless you travel alot then a psp would be very handy.

Do you have a HDTV?

if not the wii would be your best option

don't have a HDTV. Do I need one for the PS3 or PSP?
#5
You dont need a tv for the psp.

the ps3 is preferred on hdtv because it gives out maximum graphics. you can pick a hdtv up for 160£ [19" widescreen, from argos] i bought one yesterday

No you dont need a HDTV, although it would look better one one.

so far, the general consensus seems to be to go with the Wii, which is kind of what I was swaying towards anyway.

Does anyone know what games for the Wii currently support online play, and what ones are planned fo future release?

PSP is a better option than the Wii for me. Portable. Easy to store away. WiFi internet, ability to watch films, view pics, listen to music. Wii is very innovative and very clever but the novelty value soon wears off.

All depends on what you want out of a console???

Get the wii, its fantastic, they have been going out of argos like hot cakes!

Sounds like you are getting both choices in that quote?

If handheld game console is atractive, and innovative games, have you not considered the DS?

We have DSs, PSP, Wii and xbox - the DSs get the most use out of all of them, then the PSP, then the xbox, and lastly the Wii. I think the novelty of a Wii does wear off for some. There was an article this week that was saying something like 63% of Wii owners had not used it within the past 2-4 weeks.

Mostly sports games i suppose. Prefer Pro Evolution to FIFA. Like Tiger Woods, and like some other games like GTA.

It sounds like a PS3 would suit you best but I guess that's too expensive innit?

or perhaps a xbox360?

So having asked if you should gt a PSP or Wii, you now have suggested a PSP, Wii, DS, PS3, and xbox 360

Edit: forgot to say "innit"

What are the prices of xbox 360's?

Are they much dearer than the Wii?

you could get a 360 core for the same price as a Wii (£174.99) or a premium 360 console for a little more (£199.99) - www.shopto.net

What's the difference between those 2 xbox's?

Sure my brother nought a newer one (elite is it?) recently and it was a lot more expensive than £199

The elite is typically £299. Essentially core has no hard disk, premium has 20Gb, elite has 120Gb. core has wired controller, others have wireless controllers supplied.

I'm sure a quick search on google will show you the key differences.

Thanks for all the help guys - just got a couple more questions about the PSP slim and lite, as I've just been offered a good deal on this.

I've been told that in order to play games from my memory card (and therefore have the ability to download games rather than buy them), I would have to downgrade my custom firmware. However, i have also been told that in order to do this I would need a normal bigger PSP.

Is this corect?

Is it impossible to play games from a memory card without the need for a phat PSP?

Also, I've also read in various places that although the Slim and Lite PSP supports a TV out link allowing you to play it on a TV, this only works on a HDTV, and not on a normal tv.

Again is this correct, and is there anyway of outputting a Slim PSP on a normal tv?

Thanks in advance for any advice

PS. should've said the deal i've been offered for the slim PSP is £92 for the unit. No games or accessories involved. Is this a good deal
