i bought a psp on here as faulty but was told it powers up and works etc but needs some new casing etc. i ordered a battery and stuff from deal extreme but that will take ages to come so i went to the local market and bought a psp charger. i plugged in the charger and tried to power it up and got the green light. i waited but the screen doesnt come on. the green light goes of after 15 seconds.

anyone know whats going on? i shall i wait for my battery to come then try or does someone know what this problem is?

Sounds like its been bricked , you need a Pandora battery to bring it back to life
oh ok. ill ask my freind to sort it out for me. is that what happens when its bricked?

I would say bricked to, very easy to over come if you have a Pandora batt & magic mem stick.
Usually when it's bricked the green light will come on for a few seconds and then go off with no display.
If it is bricked - it's just a software issue - that will take just a few minutes to solve
ok cool at least its not a lcd issue.

Yeah , ive fixed a few , when its bricked the green power light comes on, no other sign of life then green power light goes off
is there a way of ubricking the psp myself without pandora?

Nope, afraid not mate.
And the battery you will be getting from dealextreme will NOT be any good for converting to a Pandora battery either, the ones they sell are fakes, they work alright as batteries (most of the time and they dont hold as much charge) but they dont have the internal circuitry like the old, official ones did, and thus cannot have the files on the board over written with the change in code.
Just find someone who has a PSP with custom firmware that you know, and they *should* be able to help you out, unfortunately Pandora batteries and services to do with them are not allowed on the site, although I don't know where the mods would stand on one being used to fix and not downgrade/ install cfw on a broken PSP, might be worth asking one of them if you could put out a request for someone to fix it for you though.

thanks mikebeaver. ive got some freinds which do cfw and that for other people. i will just give it to him and he can sort it out for me.
the battery i bought from dealextreme is just a battery which i want to use as a battery basically. im not going to convert it into pandora. however i have a question. if i make a pandora battery can it be used as a normall battery?

Yeah, if you get a real battery that is compatible, then you can convert it back and forth, its just a simple program that will run if you get custom firmware on it.
There are ways of having the battery be in pandora mode but work like normal, or hold a button etc to get it to do its thing, but I never bothered looking in to that, lol.

ok ive got the pandora battery and the memory card. i put in the memory card and the pandora and switched it on and the light is staying n but nothing is showing on the screen. anyone know how to do this pandora thing or where im going wrong?
Your memory card has to be turned into a magic key by putting special boot software on it.

Have you done this ?
my freind gave me the memory card and the pandora. i decided to lift up the screen to see what the problem is and the ribbon was loose. how do i push in the cable? its the thin ribbon not the big one.
still cant get that little ribbon in.
The ribbon was loose.

LOL Should have read post 2!
lol i think its both. its bricked and loose cable. this is so annoying. i was told by the person i bought it of that it can switch on etc.
