I have 100's of cd albums ,what is the best quickest7cheapest way of getting them onto my apple ipod? is it a casa of putting each album onto my laptop then somehow transfering them on to ipod surley this would take forever plus don't want to waste all the space on the laptop so i'd have to delete them after each album advise please?

That's the only way, unless you got some recording device on your Ipod
But the later will produce inferior quality sound

install itunes and it will convert them for you-just click "import" with the disc in the drive-its very quick.

Good question, I've got a 32gb iPOD touch on order and I too want to copy my CD collection on to it. I am sure someone with experience of this will clarify the best approach - what I was going to do was install iTUNES and upload my CD's on to my NAS first of all and then copy them across on to the iPOD. If there is a quick and dirty way of doing this then I'll be verey interested to know!

Good luck

Download/install iTunes from Apple website (or wherever)
Plug in your iPod and sync it with iTunes
Bung in a CD and upload the music to your music library in iTunes
Library should sync with your ipod, loading the music onto it.

However the music files on your laptop will take up memory space.

MP3 all the way, but if you want to lock your entire CD collection to W4A (Apple codec) knock yourself out

Thanks for clarifying that  I've got about 200+ CD's to copy, so I can see I am going to need to call on the services of my 4 year old Son to help me with the manual copy process :p

I think he/she is trying to sell the merits of MP3 over the iPOD format.

I would think it fool hardy to go through all that effort to copy all that music to an iPod format, only to find in a few years that they can't put it onto the 'NEW' big thing from another company. All the other companies support MP3. Not used iTunes to copy my music so don't know if it's possible to set it to copy in MP3?

Have had complaints from family that they can't use their iTunes collection on their new MP3 player only for me to find it's all W4A format, useless on any other player.

Windows Media Player allows you to copy in WMA (Microsoft) or MP3.

Hard drive space, surely?

(And stop calling me Shirley, etc.)
