As far as I am aware the chalets have toasters, but they also have a proper cooker.

I assume you know that you have to pay for electric cards there.

I think the silver and gold(or whatever they are called) chalets have microwaves too.

Pontins grub isnt too bad deal wise I think, 2 meals for like £10 or maybe less than that.

Theres a small village about 15-20 mintues walk away that has fish and chip shops, kebab places, chinese's etc available.

Hi - if you drive towards Southport, just after the pier, turn right and there's a retail park with Pizza Hut (a good one) and Maccy Ds. Across from there is an entertainment complex with cinema, loads of restaurants (Frankie and Benny's etc). Southport itself is lovely with lots of shops , bars, restaurants. It makes up for staying at Pontins - we did a free one 2 years ago. Good luck.

Thats your best bet without travelling like the 4-6 miles to the retail park in Southport, if you have a car the small town/village nearby is only about 5 minutes drive.

Cafe in the market hall is really good. There is a Toby in Ainsdale. Couple of Chinese all you can eat buffets in town.
Most of the pubs do 2 for 1 meals.
Also if you drive into Southport, use the park and ride. £1 a day and buses every 15 minutes.(into town and free)
The traffic wardens here are barstewards. Also different areas have different car park prices, and you are not allowed to move from one zone to another with the same ticket.(you will get done)

oooh good to know but mum is 80 and dsabled so i hope we can park somewhere:oops:
and if its any consolation our local town has been in all the papers for chasing shopers cos the new trafic wardens are so unreasonable...so i guess its all over.

Sounds like we will be ok fo food tho-i was just concerned places would be closed cos its out of season...

Thanks all for your replies:-D

If your mum has a blue badge, you will be ok.
Just remember DONT park in any of the loading bays. They are not clearly marked. One is outside Specsavers on Eastbank St and the other is just down from Johhy Bells the jeweller in King St (where the market is)
Also whatever you do DONT park in Iceland's carpark on King St. It is privately run, and although it has designated disabled parking spaces, you still need to buy a ticket for £2.50.
This is refunded at the till if you buy £10, of shopping, BUT you are only allowed 1 hour parking.
Loads of visitors have been caught out and ended up paying a fine.
If the weather is nice while you are here, do go to Churchtown. This is where the Botanic garden's are. Has a big lake with lot's of ducks and swans on it. Also a small aviary, and best of all a little meusum which is free.
Above all, enjoy your holiday.:):santa:
Just to add, the local paper the Southport Visiter (not a spelling mistake), comes out on a Friday.

oh we planned on doing it all but Pontins chalet was freezing-staff said camp had been closed for a month even the beds were icey!
We feed the elec meter £6 in each chalet to keep it going all night and even with our blankets we took were cold! i think a tent would have been as good!
We ate on the site due to time and hungry kids and it was ok. Everyone was satisfied so cant complain.
Sat through the entertainment today but they kept saying that santa will be here soon from 11am and he got there at 1pm so disappointed the kids..they were worn out waiting lol
We would go again but in summer as the beach is so close!
Thanks for eveyones help xx
