i dont think speaking to orange is going to help, it will already be in the pipeline to be pulled from your account, but you do need to speak to your bank or somehow find the money, as if it is refused you will get bank charges, then you will have to fight to get them back

alright dg. if you've already paid then its too late.

If you haven't then....
What you can do is 'lose' ur card. Ring up the bank to tell them you've lost it and to cancel any direct debits.
The direct debit won't go through, contact orange to tell them about the situation and that you'll inform them when you get ur new card or agree that they can take out the amount next month.

You won't get any charges and it won't affect ur credit rating

if you just cancel the dd you it will effect your credit report, also they could disconnect your phone, i cannot believe you cant borrow £40 odd quid for a day or two :?
banned#14
your card has no details on that a dd could be set up from, your card details are not your bank details

Worked for me with stupid fitnessfirst (i hate them, they are the devil incarnate :x)

It wasn't the next day though, it was about a week or 2 before the direct debit was due.

you can say you lost your card, but that has nothing to do with DD's, you may as well cancel the DD now and contact orange if there is no way of funding it

Borrowing it would be a lot easier and depositing it today,.silly question but are you absolutely sure nobody can lend it you,g/friend,relative etc

......or instead of spending the last 30 minutes debating this on the internet, he could have called Orange and they would have sorted something out for him.

Genius.

i wanted to see if anyone had experienced this before, and what the best way to go about it was.

You'll have a slim chance of getting it stopped now. You usually need to cancel a direct debit at least 48 hours in advance.

If they take the payment and you go overdrawn you'll get a bank charge.
If you cancel DD or the bank rejects it, orange will charge you an administration fee (usually between £10 and £20).

Just check who'll charge you more for admin costs and use the one that'll charge you least amounts. No matter what whichever way you choose you'll have to pay one an admin fee.
#29
second thing u can do is change ur account type to one where u can get an overdraft. Pretty sure they can do this on the same day.
#30
Have you checked your previous statements to see WHEN the payment comes out? The case for my Orange BB is that it the Direct Debit is applied for on the 3rd, but is actually taken out 10 working days later. Meaning i don't have to have the money in there till about 9 days later.
banned#31
yes as already said you need to check when you other payments come came out, it should be same time each month within a dayish
#32
OK, I work for Orange.
If the funds aren't in the acc the payment bounces, the billing computer will try again in a few days if it still can't draw the funds it'll write to you and you can then call in and pay with a card.
It's better to call and tell the billing team the payment isn't going to go through and they can then flag the acc, missing one payment isn't too bad.
If your more than half way through the contract you can (unless they've changed it again!) always drop one tariff if you can get by on the fewer texts/minutes. . .

orange isnt his problem, the bank is
#34
Indeed, but if it only delays the DD for a few days there won't be a problem as far as Orange is concerned
