I received a text message from Orange the other day saying:

"From 14 Sep we'll be changing the cost of some calls that are not included in your plan. See (orange website) for more"

I am quite confused about the "not included in your plan" bit. Are they saying that the price change won't affect me, if so, why bother telling me?

I am on a 18 month contract that is about a year in, it costs £45 a month and I got a free PS3.

I have seen some posts on here about people being able to cancel their contracts because of the pricing changes but I am not sure if that applies to me and the Orange website is less than useful!

Can anyone help!?

Thanks

my guess it its referring to the cost of calls after you have used up your free minutes

I got the same text, didn't affect me at all but still managed to cancel my contract early, no probs at all...!

Just adding - if you do want to cancel you are totally within your rights to even if you don't use over your minutes etc.

Ah, see I have 1200 minutes and I maybe use 500 maximum each month. Won't they try and say that it won't affect me because I don't go over my minutes?

They may try and say that but the point is that you signed up to a contract to be able to go over your minutes if you wanted, and signed up to pay a certain amount if you did. They didn't say a thing to me when I did it, literally rung up, said I had that text and wanted to cancel, they said "Ok it will be shut off tomorrow" No questions asked or anything!

Surely though it they disconnect you that fast, you are left without a phone? No contract. no minutes, no calls?

Really good guide to it here - http://www.bitterwallet.com/cancelling-your-orange-contract-a-troubleshooting-guide/15849

answers all the main questions in there. Big point is that if you do want to cancel, you can. I cancelled day before yesterday and signed straight up to a new contract with a better phone and cheaper plan.

Seriously, all she said was ok, that will be shut off tomorrow. I signed up to a new contract the minute I got off the phone and got next day delivery, was only without a phone for a few hours yesterday while I was at work.

i cancelled mine. They will try and keep you on but you say no i want to cancel. Then feel free to callback and take out another contract or sim deal. You keep the old phone too. Worth a try and definatly works but only valid for a few weeks coz they were supposed to send a text message to everyone giving one weeks time

Would it matter if I didn't buy the phone directly from Orange, it was from buymobilephones.net.

Shouldn't matter no. Mine was from phones4u.
