I have a sky contract & a Sky+ box.

When my contract expires what if anything is to stop me cancelling & just having the free-to-air channels "BUT" still being able to have the sky+ recording facility??

You'd have to pay thr £10 subscription to keep the sky+ functions, now that they have scrapped the sky+ charge for the mix packages you'd be better of just keeping them and getting the sky+ functionality for free. You'll find all this info at the digitalspy forums.
