Ok i have a hard modded xbox and just installed a 250gb hdd.

Everything is working ok but instead of having 118gb free space on G drive it's on Q drive and i can't access this part of the HDD.

I've run Slayer's a couple of times with new hdd upgrade installation but nothing is changing.

I can see G drive but it contains 0gb.

How can i get the 118gb from Q to G drive ?

3 Things could be or all 3.
Space needs formated, see xbox scence (cant link from work)
Boot with orginal HDD then use the Swap HDD (while power on, tell all in xbox scene)
Reformat with slayer disk (lastest one support large disk support), read up first on this, as can damage unit

G: is formatted. I didn't think you needed to use the hotswap method ???

I've been searching all morning and i can't hardly find anything on the Q: drive and what to do about it. I know how to enable the G: drive which it is
#3
Ensure have lastest slayer boot disc, can get from usual sites, this will format and add ine into the evo.ini that 'mounts' the drive, sorry can't help anymore than that

got slayers 2.7. I just took the hdd out of my xbox and formatted it on my pc.

Put back into my xbox and run slayers 2.7 option new install upgrade hdd.

I still have nothing on G: drive and it is enabled. I think i am going to give up on it and just use the 128gb that i have. It's really doing my head in.

thanks will do that

Use xboxhdm on your pc (need to create a bootable iso) that will correctly format all the partitions for you
#8
nice one...Thanks

from the guides on using xboxhdm it's telling me it's for softmodding xboxs ???? Mines hard modded
Then it goes on about unlocking/locking the hdd???
The 250gb drive is already unlocked but i just want my G: drive.

I noticed earlier that the Q: drive in question is actually a clone of the F: drive as the size of it went down when i was transferring files to the F: drive.

Is this still what i need ?

I've only got Slayers 2.6, so it may be a little different that what you see

When you boot from slayers, select the Apps/Upgrade/Lock/Format

Select the format option. Select the option with the format choice again.

select 'I have a backup of my HDD and want to continue'.

The next screen, right at the bottom, should have the drives listed individually. Select the option to format G:.

It may or may not work. If it works, you'll see the G drive listing in the top right show available space.
If it doesn't, let me know what BIOS you have on your chip/TSOP.

I have done that and i see G: drive but it reads 0

edit* i've tried looking for the bios version but can't find it....where do i look for it at ?

My xbox is a 1.6b version with an excuter 2.6c chip i think.... the person i got the xbox from doesn't know what chip is in it but from what i could tell it's an excuter 2.6

I'm thinking your BIOS hasn't got the G drive option enabled. We need to work out what BIOS you have....

When you boot up your Xbox, does it go straight into the green splash screen, or does it say something like Xecuter Config Live Loading.... beforehand?

If not, during the splash screen, is there an EVO - X logo in the top corner of the screen?

If that's still not what you see, do you see 'Xecuter2' appear under the Xbox Logo (where you would normally see Microsoft)?
#13
When it boots it boots with the microsoft logo and evo-x in the top cornor and then goes to the xbmc screen
#14
Ah - so you're running EvoxM8_16 BIOS! Last thing we need to check here is what's flashed on your other 512k Bank. Take a look at your bank select switch - it'll be set to either bank 1 or 2 (surprisingly!). Note which one it's set to right now, switch it to the other and power it up.

1. What was it set to?
2. What happens when you boot the other one?
#15
How do i do that ? There are 3 switches on the front....the 1st one is on now. Do i turn that one off 1st then turn the middle one on ? what about the 3rd one ?

This is from xboxpartioner
#17
Don't know how to boot from the other bank....i've tried the other switches and the do nothing. The 1st one i guess is the main power switch for the chip as it will only go green(on) and red(off) and the other 2 do not do anything
#18
Your error from XBPartitioner is exactly what I'd expect to happen - the M8plus/M8plus16 BIOS had LBA48 disabled by default.

Your switches:

http://www.xbox-modchips.com/tutorials/x2v6-programmer-images/X2v6lce-2.JPG

Obviously this is mounted upside-down so your switches from left to right are:

Chip enable/disable ----------- Flash Protect off (red)/ on (green) --------- Bank 1 (1 light) / 2 (2 lights).

If you can't see the LEDs, then turn them on with the little black switch in the top corner - it'll make more sense this way.

Your right hand switch is the one to concentrate on right now - if it's booting the same thing set to left AND right, then you have a 1MB (2 x 512k) BIOS of Evox. This is ok, however reflashing the chip is what we need to do and will be a little harder to do because there's no FlashBIOS on the chip.

We're going to need to reflash from a boot disk instead, with a custom BIOS on it.

Just double check that banks 1 and 2 boot exactly the same thing and let me know for sure.
#19
yes the boot the same way.....both with the evo x in the top corner

and thanks for the pic...it really help to know what the switches are for and i turned the led's on
#20
Ok - last question hopefully.

Do you know offhand what the name of your XBMC xbe file is in the root of your C drive? For the new BIOS to work, it needs to be the right name. You'll have other names in the C drive of your Xbox like Xboxdash.xbe, but these are normal - look for xbmc.xbe or something like that.
#21
xboxdash.xbe and evodash.xbe on the root of the C: drive
#22
ok - did you get that from checking in file manager in XBMC?

If so, run each in turn (highlight and press A) and let me know what they do.
#23
i got that from ftp'ing to the xbox

i'll try that now
#24
Ok - go into XBMC and carry out as above. I expect xboxdash.xbe to boot straight into the standard green Xbox Dashboard, with evodash.xbe booting into XBMC.

and you are correct
#26
Ok - this is what we're going to do (since you have network access to your Xbox):

We need to get FlashBIOS back on your chip really, it'll make this process a lot easier should you also wish to reflash in the future (as you can flash over the network). It's also good as contingency :)

Before I make you a boot disc to do this, do you currently have the ability to reflash the chip yourself either by a programmer or utility?
#27
well i know i don't have a programmer....what flash tools do i need to look for....i have downloaded Auto-Installer Deluxe v4.30 which has some tools in it and i also have xboxhdm_v1.9 and dp-Ndure-3.0 but know nothing on using them
#28
ok - download the following files:

http://www.xbox-guru.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/files/evoxbootcd-dhcp.zip
Keep this one aside for now, in case Slayers doesn't work as intended.

http://www.xbox-guru.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/files/flashbios-ukhd.rar
Unpack this, boot Slayers 2.7 and copy the contents (should be FlashBIOS_301_303_1024k.bin) to the root of your C drive.
EDIT: of course, this means FTPing it to your xbox's C drive, not your own!!!

Still in your FTP program, select the option to issue a RAW FTP command. Not all FTP clients support this, but FlashFXP definitely does. Once the command box appears, type in "flashbios c:\FlashBIOS_301_303_1024k.bin" (without the quotes). Something should appear on the Dashboard screen, showing that something's happening. You need to have the write protect off, so ensure the middle switch is set to the right as well.

Let me know what happens after this, or if you get this far. When you reboot you should see FlashBIOS screen in blue appear. Let me know either way.
#29
yup i have the flash bios screen with some options
#30
Excellent - can you try and boot from either bank and let me know if you see it change from FlashBIOS 3.0.1 and 3.0.3.

We're doing this as depending on what 1.6 you have, it will react differently to each version. i.e you may get a blank screen and the light on your xbox change to orange. Let me know!
#31
booted from bank 2 i got the flash bios screen 3..0.3 and from bank one blank screen
#32
Righty - You've got a 1.6b, meaning we want to leave FlashBIOS 3.0.3 as the default option for Bank 1.

Download this:
http://www.xbox-guru.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/files/zeus9876.rar

Unpack the file (FB303_&_EvoxM8Plus16_FandG.bin) and just leave it somewhere you can browse to.

Boot into FlashBIOS 3.0.3 (should be bank 2 at the moment).

Select Enable Network Flashing.

After a few seconds, the Xbox will enable the network port and give you an IP address.

On your PC, go to http://[ip address].

You should have a flash screen appear. Browse to your extracted BIOS and select 'Upload and Flash'. Ignore the stuff about X3 - this will still work with the X2.6.

It should erase, flash then shut the XBOX down. If you get this far, reboot into Bank 2 and it should load up with the Evox logo again and eventually into XBMC. If so, reboot again with Slayers and choose that option to format the G drive - it should now work.
#33
when on the flash bois screen it will not let me select any options....it's like it's froze or something.
#34
ok, it may be a controller compatibility issue. Do you have the DVD Playback kit? If so, this will work (i.e the remote control!!). If not, the smaller S type controller should work.
#35
i don't have a remote not the smaller s type. I do have a wireless but don't know if it works and i never tested it....will try that now
#36
not working with the wireless one either and i don't know of anyone that has an xbox so that i could borrow one. I have to go to town so should i get a dvd remote or a smaller s type controller ?
#37
I'd get the DVD Remote as it's a godsend if you're watching movies etc through it. The likes of Gamestation etc usually have them pre-owned for a few quid. Unless you're looking to buy another controller that is!
#38
Okies will get the dvd remote....will let you know when i get back. Should be 30 min or so
#39
np :)
#40
Ok i am back....Had to go to Game and buy a whole xbox just to get the controller....good thing it was a crystal one..LOL

Anyways i did the above and now it boots to the original MS dashboard
