Question for anyone who uses Abbey online banking

I'm trying to log on to my Abbey account using their Online Banking service for the first time. It's asking me to enter my card number, passcode, and registration number but IN FULL. My other banks ask for the first and third digit (for example) rather than the whole thing.

Is this usual for Abbey or have I been directed to a dodgy imitation?! I know this can happen and I clearly don't want to do the stupid!

Can anyone tell me if this is standard for Abbey? Thanks

I had a virus and when I went to log in to my internet banking (HSBC) it asked me for my full security code rather than just 3. However, you're registering for the first time so it might be different. I briefly had an account with Abbey and remember them being absolutely awful for loads of reference numbers, passwords etc so perhaps it's ok. Why not phone and double check!

With abbey online banking, you have to put all 3 sets of numbers in FULL. Its not a virus on your comp, I use it all the time. Whereas my HSBC only asks for certain digits of my passcode...

Ok thanks people. Seem pretty bad to me asking in full but if thats the norm then I'll go ahead!

Thanks! :)

Yep, I can also confirm it's full details with abbey. This could very well change from Monday, when everything will go through SANTANDER.CO.UK instead. :)

EDIT: On the Secure 3D online payments system it's only in the last few months Abbey has started asking for individual characters. Previously you had to use the full password on that, too.

So long as you're not stupid and write down your passwords and have anti spyware/antivirus, been using online banking here for years, no problem.

However, go "idle" and not use it for a few months, expect the palava of re-registering.
