Quick Carphone Warehouse question.

All the phones on their website have "when you top up £10"

I am getting my mum a new phone for Christmas tomorrow, she already has a mobile and is on O2.

Will I still have to pay the £10? Or do they waiver it if you are already connected to that network?

Thanks

Ryan

Other threads seem to mention that if you ask for it as an upgrade, you don't pay for the top up

I think you will have to buy a £10 top up voucher. You could always sell it.

No... If you have an O2 pay as you go number, you can do it as an O2 UPGRADE. Doing this way, you dont have to buy the top-up, Instead the number you gave will receive credit, the amount is depending on how much it has been topped up in the year and a avergae is given back.

I work at CPW! :)

you still have to purchase the £10.00 topup even if you are connected to a network it is the condition of the sale, as i was told last week upon purchasing a pay as you go phone, never mind

Thanks folks!

Will get back tomorrow to see what happens

Carphone Warehouse insisted on me buying the £10 O2 top-up when I replaced my daughter's PAYG. It worked out in my favour: after ringing O2, we got her old SIM credited with the £10 and the "upgrade bonus". Carphone Warehouse were just being deliberately awkward.

Watch CPW like a hawk, they charged me 3 times for one phone last week, to say they are incompetent would be kind.:x

Went into CPW today and bought my wife the LG Cookie. Asked if it could be treated as an upgrade rather than paying for the top up and he said yeah no problem. Paid £97.82 and walked out very happy.
