i bid on and won an item, at £4.99 (first and only bid, starting at £4.99). it was a bluetooth headset and being an accessory ebay has forced sellers to give free postage. in the description, in light gray at the bottom, the seller put postage £3.95 for non-buy it now bidders. can he do that?can he now ask me to pay £4.99 + 3.95?

What was the buy it now price?

When auction ended what was the total price in invoice or if u went to pay by paypal
#2
Nope .... when you go to pay via paypal it shouldn't ask you to pay the postal method! If they refuse to sell to you then report them as Non Performing seller
#3
what total shows up when you go through checkout?
#4
Last week I bid and won 30 Beano Comics for my son and seller hadnt put a postage amount in. Final total was £4.51 - and I paid that amount immediately by paypal

He then messaged me next day asking for another £5 for postage - which I refused to pay as it hadnt been put in auction. I called ebay who said that he should have put cost into postage charge box so it would have been added onto invoice automatically

SO i got the comics for £4.51 and he had to pay postage of £4.45 - making it a profit to him for selling 30 comics - 6p

When u go to paypal the postage amount is always included in the total amount due.

Yes I agree I would report them if they refuse to sell

buy it now was something like £25, overpriced.

this is the invoice i got sent from ebay, probably from the seller himself as there is a note at the bottom

Item # Item Title Quantity Price Amount
160358560081 voyager bluetooth headset 1 £4.99 £4.99
Subtotal: £4.99
Postage and packaging via Royal Mail 1st Class Standard: £0.00
Other postage choices:
Collection in Person:£0.00
Total £4.99

pls note because the buy it now was not used there is a postage charge to be added of £3.95 TOTAL £ 8.94 not the 4.99 as invoice shows
#7
just pay the £4.99 ....... the postage wasn't added in the auction (as they can't)

All they will do is send you another invoice with the £3.95 charge on it

Only pay the £4.99 and refuse to pay the extra as he is in the wrong

Im guessing the BIN was a high price so would cover their postal charges?
#8
strangely enough i haven't actually got a notification email from ebay saying i've won. and i haventt received a paypal notification either, but then i don't normally anyway

even if i wanted to add £3.95 for postage, there is no option to do so when i click pay now.

his latest email after i told him that it was against ebay rules and that if he wanted £3.95 he should have put it in the auction as a starting price, and if he really wanted to get £5 minimum gain he should have started the listing at £8.95

Dear morale$,

sorry but i did clearly state buy it now with free p&p or bid + £3.95 p&p this is a brand new un-opened boxed item valued every where @ £29.95

Tell him, he can't make someone pay a different charge cos they didn't use the BIN. You will only pay the £4.99 as it is what is in your invoice from ebay! (when you get it)

If he refuses then a stinking red mark on his name and a NPS report

People like him give ebay a bad name,

i worry he will leave me a neg rep, my feedback isn't big and 1 neg would be significant, especially seeing as i've made very few purhcases in the last 12 months
#12
I'd report him, if he wanted to make the buy it now have free p&p why not just make the buy it now price less so that when p&p was added the buyer paid the same amount, buyers buy based on total price, not wheter or not he's written in the smallprint that they get free p&p or have to pay more if they dont use buy it now? What he has done is against ebay rules.
#13
plus you can always neg fb him, something he can't do;-)

sellers can't leave neg fb any more.
#15
click on items you have won - go through and pay - if it says £4.95

if he still refuses to send report him

i would pay now - cant argue that he made a mistake or such
#16
could we have item number?

He can't leave you negative feedback.

item number posted in an earlier post, the one with the invoice.

i have paid the £4.99 (was £4.99 nor £4.95)

i essentially told him he was stupid without saying he was stupid and said he should have just increased his start bid.

i find it funny he said the item retails at £29.99. if i wanted retail price i'd have gone to dixons!
#19
I would pay through ebay and neg him if he doesn't accept. I hate people that list items with free delivery and then try to charge for it in description.
#20
he is a tit, obviously put it in grey as buyer may not notice as the sentance above is in bright red
what a tit :x
#21
i dont think he had a choice regarding the free delivery. although i think its good that ebay forces sellers to put it for free as the chinese ones would always add an extortionate amount to the price through postage misleading buyers. an accessory never costs that much to deliver

yeh i was gonna say the same thing, sellers like that trying to get around the FREE postage are no fun. they can put free 2nd class then pay 1st class as a choice but they can't FORCE you to pay ontop. just damn rude IMO
#23
thats gonna cost him £3 ish to send, if sent via 1st class recorded
#24
it would seem to me that the seller hoped the buyer wouldn't know that it's free delivery on accessories. The seller is being sneaky. report him.
#25
i've not heard from him since his last reply, how long until you can report/do a paypal dispute?
#26
Dear morale$,

sorry for the p&p charge i have checked the ebay rules and have found that this item has to be free P&P i was un-aware of this until now. item will be posted tomorrow thanks

Isn't that irritating? I won something on ebay last week and can't pay for it as I can't add the postage charge into the payment.
