hey,
just done my weekly shop - first time ever online!! (we like to peruse isles and mess about with the trolley), so question is, since the bogof offers and such are only applied when the items are delivered, what happens? does the driver hand me a £20 note? :giggle: or do I get my pennies back in my account?

they dont actually deduct any money untill it goes through checkout, so it deducts the price the items are on the day of delivery :)

ive been tempted to shop online, but i dont particually fancy the idea of getting substituted items if there out of stock. im very fussy lol. does it happen very often? sorry for hijacking your thread, actually im not:p

ive used tesco many times and only had a substitute twice, once was the bread i wanted but i got an equal value loaf, and the other was loo roll, again i got an equal sub so i was happy, you are told straight away of subs and have the opportunity to hand them back to the driver,or you can choose not to receive substitutes at all, on the whole ive been very happy with all my deliveries :)

thanks, might give it ago.

I couldn't shop online, I love running along with the trolley and then jumping up and standing on the back of it. One time there was a old man in front of me and the look of shock on his face as he scurried out of the way. He was quite a distant away from me at the time, god knows how far/fast he thought I could go on the back of one.

Now, consider your thread hijacked.

Say you don`t want substitute and they will not supply .
You also can refuse the substitute. I have shopped on-line for two years at Asda and tesco and get a good 10% off with all the coupons supplied by HDUK.
Also all those heavy cases of beer are delivered straight to my door.

I shop on line every week collect loads of points and if they do substitute anything you can refuse. Just give it back to the driver he writes down what you have refused and a few days later you get a letter saying they have debited your card :-D
#12
With tesco, you can also choose the substitute, you choose between -

Dont subsitute
Subsitute this instead
Choose a sutible substitute

For each item. Even if you say 'choose a sutible subsitute' you can still give it back to the driver for a refund.

BTW: Check the print off they give you, on the last page it says all the offers that have saved you money, check all the ones you were expecting have been added.

We dont get a letter, only get an email if something has been refunded

Or ...shhhh dont tell anyone !!

If you get meat etc and its been substututed, keep it until the driver goes away then call tesco up about the sub, tesco cant accept anything like that back incase its been touched ,...so you keep it and get a refund when you phone a customer srvice agent.

dont do this all the time tho

We get refunds most weeks, say the fruit/veg isnt very fresh - or an item has been substituted without being put on the subs list

Only call them if there genuinely is a problem, but always say about the fruit/veg too and get that refunded (Huge % of our shopping is fruit and veg!)

we got our shopping yesterday, no subs but they did accidently give us something we didnt order, shush!

:giggle: That is part of the fun of ordering online, we often get items we didnt order - got 5 bags of it once! Had about 4 loaves of bread, cakes, biscuits, tea bags, crisps and 3 bags of apples in it

i don't get things like meat and veg online because they tend to give me naff ones. Big stuff I can't be arsed to cart back up the hill etc I do get and have probably saved a bit of £ with the vouchers on here. (I always go for the cheapest delivery too!)

We are vegetarian, so dont know about meat, but we get fruit and veg online and it is normally nice, if not we get it refunded :)

My cousin and his friends once ordered from tesco and got it delivered to the park - they were having a picnic and ordered all the food online to save them carrying it around because they were going to see a band first!

I just choose not to have substitutes, so occasionally get an out of stock item, but not very often. I love shopping on line & getting it delieved, saves dragging the kids round the shops, just need to employ someone to put it away for me now
#21
when you shop online at tesco, are the items that are shown the ones they actually carry at your local store?

I think so, because I couldnt get an item I bought often but wasnt at all the stores, now it has been added so must now be in the shop :)

oh dear!, i also like the favourites as i can add stuff i ususlly get each week really quickly, they even have the items i buy in store in my favourites
#36
I like that too :)

I always check my basket before I checkout!

Also be careful about loose fruit/bags of fruit.....know someone who ordered 7 packs of bananas instead of 7 bananas! She was like a magician pulling scarves out of a pocket - just kept finding more and more bananas! :giggle:
