Quick Sky question

I've cancelled my sky subscription in advance of moving to a new house. My plan is to use my existing box as a feesat box- will that work without having to do anything with the viewing card?

As long as the new house has a working sky dish set up.

Sky periodically update their cards, you may need to buy their freesat card @ £25 for about 3yrs iirc or get a non sky freesat box.

as sy says if you have a dish to plug into you can get the free channels - not channel 5 etc.

No channel 5 what the duece?

I'm interested in doing this but wondering whether I can get HD free.

You can get channel 5 but you have to add it yourself, think its then accessed differently as well. Oh and you would still get all the free to air HD channels just not those included in skys £10 per month package

To add channels to your "Other Channels" option, do the following -
With your digibox turned on, press the "Services" button (near the top of the remote).
Select number 4 (System Setup), and then 4 again ("Add Channels").
In the appropriate fields enter the following (you move through the fields using the up and down arrow keys).

In the Frequency field enter: 10.773,
The next three fields are toggle fields, i.e. using the left and right arrows will change the value.
Toggle Polarisation to : H
Toggle Symbol Rate to: 22000
Toggle FEC to : 5/6
Then select the last button - Find Channels.
Channel 5 will now be in the list of channels maybe called 6335

Use the Yellow button to place a tick beside each one you wish to store and when you've finished ticking press "Select". These channels will now be stored.
You can view them by pressing the "Services" button, then 6 ("Other Channels"), use the arrow keys to move to the channel you want and press "Select".

Cheers guys... I'm taking out a new subscription at the new house so will have a dish installed. Plan is to get the sky engineer to run a second set of cables into the bedroom and use the old sky box
