Quidco cashback declined

Has anyone had a significant Quidco cashback declined? I spend £2,274 on a hotel booking with ebookers . The cashback showed as tracked for 2 weeks, but yesterday showed as declined . Now, I'm not happy about simply losing £250 (11%), seeing as I would not have booked with ebookers without the cashback. I have not received cashback from any other party, and I have paid in full.

I have posted an incorrect payment query, and have also contacted ebookers, but in the meantime, I am interested in the experiences of others.

I usually look at cashback as a "bonus"... not something which clinches a deal. Although I've never had any declined...

Cant help here, but one of mine might be being declined, was due to be paid my AA breakdown money, but its just showing as tracked STILL even though the payment date is march 2007?

I did it all online, and have started cover, so i dont see what the issue is....

Payment dates are only an estimate Joshy, you're still likely to get your money

Since May 2005 I've had a grand total of £172.40 declined. Some you win, some you don't.

I remember some transactions showing as declined then reappearing as received.

Without doubt some merchants will offer a cashback via Quidco only to grab sales then never cough up.

yes this can happen, not a great amount but i had 50p declined, but a while later it appeared paid!

i am still waiting on £50 through virgin casino, from october 2005. it still shows as sent to merchant.

i would not be happy if i were you, i have also noticed an aweful lot of these companies now have a notice on quidco saying that any disputes will only be paid at 50% of what ever the offer was!!! currys only paid out 50% of the amount owed when i got a toshiba laptop just before xmas.

infact here is my enquiries

24 Oct 2005 BOL 11.98 2.50 successful
18 Oct 2005 Virgin Games 50.00 50.00 sent to merchant
19 Nov 2005 Bingo Liner 50.00 50.00 unsuccessful
04 Jan 2006 SportingOdds Casino 45.00 45.00 unsuccessful
13 Mar 2006 M & M Sports 40.00 1.20 sent to merchant
13 Mar 2006 Littlewoods Direct 82.50 3.71 sent to merchant

No. The Quidco link is the only cashback claimed.

Technically it is, but this amount is too large to think of as a bonus. Ebookers is using a cashback incentive to gain market share over similar companies, therefore is trading unfairly if it does not pay, especially with no reason given yet.

Did you have to complete the transaction by phone or anything, or was it completely done on the web?

i have to agree, although cashback is not guaranteed to be recieved it is there to encourage the consumer to use the merchants services, i know i have done this and will continue to do so, it amounts to an increased generation in profit margins and sales then the consumer is getting some money back rather than dealing through a direct link to the merchant its good for the consumer!

if there was nothing wrong in the transaction then i guess due to the high amount they dont want to pay!

Actually, while im here, ive got some money which has been validated since the start of last month - was due to be paid last month also, but wasnt.
And ive since recieved money from the company in question for later purchases, so it looks like this is just going to stay validated forever?

Same here, although I do go somewhere if the quidco makes it cheaper (meaning if I dont get the quidco I have paid more than I had to somewhere else.....)

I have only had 1 missing earning, which I submitted a claim for and got half the claim (sendit will only pay half for claims, but just glad I got it)

One thing has been declined, but it was national lottery which tracked twice for some unknown reason (only clicked it once....) and the other one has been paid.

I'd contact quidco and tell them about the situation - they may contact the company to ask them about the transaction. Failing that, flag it up to quidco as a dispute (or whatever it is called)

Hope this helps :)

Would it help to speak directly to the merchant, ebookers? There must be a department there who organise the commission payments to Quidco..

I've tried that and it is proving difficult as I can't explain the problem properly to the Indian call centre staff using a script. I will continue to try though.

What a nightmare...... what about typing your problem in the comments box on the customer service, contact us page?

http://www.ebookers.com/about_us/feedback_comp.html

What's your cancellation policy on the hotel? Maybe you'll be able to rebook with another company?

Thanks for that, I was looking for a link that doesn't involve me speaking to an overseas call centre. Unfortunately there is no cancellation policy.

Ouch, I really hope this is sorted for you, 250 quid isn't a small amount and it certainly is the difference between booking and not booking. I know it would be enough to influence me to book with a company.

What do the t&c's say about the money? Are these the kind of things you can threaten them with the small claims court over?

Or is there some strange grey area over all of this and if so maybe you could help to make it a little more black and white. Do they have a UK address to write to?

Good luck anyway.
