Hi,
Just looking to get an opion on this.
Went to 121carhire.co,uk website to book a car in France.
Was quoted: £302.

Which was decent price and I booked the car.
When I got my reciept through it was quoted in Euros, (335)

When I checked my credit card I was charged £323.

I sent them this email:
I booked a car via your website and I have been charged £323 instead of the £302 quoted at the time of booking.
The recipt that I was emailed quoted the price in Euros, and its obvioulsy the difference in exchange rate, but I was not charged the price that I was quoted (in sterling) when booking, there was no mention that the price could fluctuate as I was actually being charged in Euros.

Obviously Im not happy about being charged an extra 7% on my booking. Can I please have the £21 extra refunded please.

And recieved this in reply:
Thank you for your correspondence, the quote you received when making the booking is the exact sum of money you have being charged by our company, the change in currency to euro is calculated from 302.96(GBP). The discrepancy between the rates must be due to a transaction from your bank, you must contact your bank to receive compensation for this.

if you paid in France with your credit card then you will get charged a conversion rate by your bank, and thats pretty normal. Either way you should probably speak to them.

Did you read the OP? He paid online

This doesn't *sound like* a banking issue, if they quoted you in £ and Charged you in € then they should be liable for any charges/exchange commision issued by your bank... probably.

Yeah, but i settle car rentals on return by credit card, but book online. In that case you should speak to the rental company again.

You need to speak to the credit card company - tell them that you authorised a charge of £302, and ask them why the amount is showing as £323. They will help you sort it out.
