I am quite shocked by what I've just been reading. Thankfully the thread I've been reading has now been pulled and rightly so!!

The way I see it, and hopefully hopfully others will take note.

An R.I.P thread in a forum is generally started for someone that is either in the public eye or someone that was a member of a forum that has passed on. It's written for people to say goodbye if you like. I would like to think that "if" a friend or family member of the deceased were to be reading the forum, then maybe the thread would be able to bring a smile to their face or bring them some comfort.

The thread I've been reading this evening was ruined by a few idiots that think they know better.

HAVE SOME RESPECT!!!!

If there was a book of condolence, would you see any nasty comments. I very much doubt it.

So please, please, please, If there is a thread starting with R.I.P, if you have anything negative to say then just keep it to yourself. I appreciate this is a forum and people are free to air their views, but at least have some respect for the people that have lost someone.

Some of you guys are unbelievable!!

Just my view.

Pete

Thanks Pete, I've removed a lot of the posts from that thread but I've left it open for now- I totally agree with you.

Everyone has lost a loved one, and should remember how much it hurts to have someone taken from them before they make negative comments about someone's death

[CENTER] Come on this guy was a role model for kids who just happened to have a sideline of taking drugs in his spare time, now what our childrens role models do in their own time is up to them, who cares if they are setting a bad example?

If someone decides to take the easy way out thats up to them but I dont see why we need to mourn his passing, he should have made a public apology at the very least and been made to leave SMart not given the option to quit!

What ever happened to free speech???

thats all i'm saying!!!

There ya go naeem you can practise the report button by reporting me for saying what I as a responsible parent think about one of the role models our kids have!

I cant believe that people want a thread where you cant put a counter opinion :S
You are making it sound as if it is epitaph, or something his family will read.
Trust me, I am sure they will see The Sun or News Of The World or something trashy that will put it a lot less politely. If he hadnt died...then people would be lynching him on here...
I understand your point...a RIP thread should be to say goodbye and it clearly got out of hand.
Another point...
The girlfriend also had a family. The kids in colombia being worked at 4years old to make the cocaine had a family. The women forced to smuggle drugs around the world have families. The innocent people, politicians etc all murdered by rich drug cartels selling this **** to these wealthy people all have families.

We talk about the backwards chain of cheap clothing, non fairtrade food etc....
The backwards chain of drugs is definitely no better.

I just dont understand how people who dont know him can have stronger feelings on his own human rights than the rights of all the innocents. Its no different to any other criminal....and I thought people wanted the victims to have more rights than the criminal :?

I really do hope you never get knocked off your stool. I dont even know this person and have no strong feelings fr them but i do have compassion, somebody lost their life, a family lost their son, brother, uncle, nephew, grandchild, i would never be happy to climb up on a stool so high, the consequences are just like the stool, too high

somethings that were said were just a bit ott. Im all for freedom of speech etc but an RIP thread wasnt the place for it....

I agree, I overstepped the mark, got carried away as I have seen what drugs can do to people and i apologise for airing my views as it was in the wrong thread.:?

I didnt see what other people put later on. I am not saying I am perfect.
But...if you take drugs..expect no sympathy

That was my reaction too but it sounds like it was not in the correct thread. I have apologised as i don't want to cause offense.

you cant even discuss the matter in a civil tongue, so why you keep banging on about it is beyond me, oh or is it just to keep saying, yes, i agree, well i think we all gathered that

Great piece of moral highground :)
Never smoked, drank alcohol to excess, ate fatty foods?
All can be as divisive as doing drugs.
I've said it once, i'll say it again, folks who die, leave families and friends, show some respect for those that are left behind......PLEASE
goodnight one and all :)

why? it wasnt inevitable that if you take drugs someone will die.

Getting involved with drugs can happen to anyone for many reasons so please remember that before you judge so harshly as it could be someone you know and love and i am sure you would want to help and understand rather than just walking away having no sympathy because they took drugs.

I'm sure the majority of drug users or addicts of drink/gambling dont choose to be this way,its not sympathy they need but understanding and help.I personally was an addicted gambler for over twenty years and unless you have been an addict of some sort then its very hard to understand. Most addicts are really using there addiction to hide behind and not have to face problems they may have had in life for whatever reason. These people need professional help and its the like of the drug dealers that are the scum of the earth.People sometimes seem to jump on the bandwagon and think that people choose to be this way and i can assure you most dont.Thats my twp penneth worth anyway.

Clearly there are. I didnt feel the need to abuse you personally. Perhaps you could try the same

You are all talking as if he took drugs because he had problems. Him and his gf took it recreationally... and it is the consequences that have caused him these dark issues that he couldnt deal with

You are all right..we shouldn’t blame him at all for taking cocaine with his girlfriend.
I saw that somebody sped through my local town and killed somebody recently..but I don’t think we should blame him..he was obviously troubled.
I find it amazing that everybody on here is willing to stick the boot in on people who take drugs… like Pete Doherty..and say that he deserves prison etc.
Yet when a double tragedy like this happens…people want to sweep it under the carpet and just feel sorry for him.
Sweeping bad news under the carpet is why it happens to somebody else. It is also why people like Leah Betts parents released photos of the damage that drugs can cause.

yes, its called trying to help, they havent said those that take deserve what they get, trying to prevent the situations in the first place is far more helpful than saying they deserve what they got, dont you think
#30
smashed you can't blame anyone as you don't know the facts none of us do and we never will. so quick to judge, i just hope that in your lifetime people aren't as quick to judge you.

I agree...trying to prevent is best. And highlighting the issue (which is what I did) is the way to do it. People jumped on my backs because I dont condone it.

We sure live in a blame free culture on this site. Im sure many others agree, but just wont post for fear of ridicule from people who want to put a positive spin on anything.

Mugabe...he has lots of troubles..so dont blame him either please :) I expect to see a RIP thread for him when he leaves this earth  (yes, I am taking it up a notch, but the concept is the same)

calling people thick, saying they deserve to have died, etc is not highlighting any issues apart from the person posting it

we are all entitled to an opinion, and maybe its how we put our opinion across is what really matters, explaining ourselves and out opinions helps for a better discussion, dont you think

Ok..you find 1 post where I called anybody thick or stupid..
I resent you suggesting that I have said anything of the sort.

I havent said that anybody DESERVES to die. I said that they know the risks..and if they die, then it was a chance that they willingly took. If you play any game of chance long enough...you will eventually lose

i was referring to the entire thread, not your posts.Life is a risk in itself, every time we cross the road, get into a car, smoke, drink beer, go joggin, etc,etc so i think our entire life is a game, so yes we do all eventually lose;-)

Agreed..drinking is a risk, as is getting in a car etc.
But as a nation...we accept many of the legal things (drinking, smoking etc) although I personally have no sympathy for people who do either of those to excess either and suffer from it.
But there is a diference between getting in a car (a risk I agree) and snorting cocaine recreationally thinking "it wont happen to me".

I respect your views...although it may not seem it. I do have a view that we should celebrate people for the positives that they bring...but I do also think that you cant dismiss things of this magnitude.
I dont blame him for her death...for all I know she could have introduced him to it. But equally, they both took the risk and she lost out. If she had a RIP thread, I would have said the same thing.
Being famous doesnt excuse taking cocaine at his age for "fun".

i try and respect everyones opinions, although extremely hard at times. I do feel no matter how someone has lost their life it is extremely sad and a complete waste, no matter who. I do try and look at the bigger picture and although, again, hard at times, sometimes if we look hard enough we see the misery that caused them to be there in the first place. As i have said beofre even drug addicts, drug dealers where children once and when do we blame them for where they are, shall wedo it once they become a certain age, shall we look into their child hood and remove their blame and blame their parents, shall we go even further back? it is far to easy to just lay blame for what we see today

I agree..I often blame the parents :p
But, a lot of paedos were apparently abused themselves...Yet I dont see many people removing the blame from them. They are still adults, and they know it is wrong.

People can say what they want to make them sound nice. But if it was your child who was abused, or your daughter who died from cocaine... I dont think you would be quite so understanding.

And no to the earleir poster..I dont have built up aggression etc. Far from it...which may be the reason why I dont get down these dodgy paths of gambling, drinking, drugs etc etc
