There are several different products that carry the name "M3". There are the slot-2 M3 Perfect and M3 Pro products, but I believe what you are looking at is the slot-1 M3 Simply.

The R4 and M3 Simply are indeed identical. In fact, with the first batches of each, you could convert between R4 and M3 Simply by simply soldering or desoldering a few pads on the PCB. That has been fixed with later batches, but the point remains that they are the same.

The R4 is the original product, which the M3 Team buys and rebrands as the M3 Simply. This means that R4 updates come out sooner than M3 Simply ones. Also, the R4 is usually cheaper than the M3 Simply, but not always.

Nearly all slot-1 devices have built-in passcard capability, so you don't need to worry about that. The only one that doesn't is the DSLINK.

Check out this site for more info also - http://www.m3adapter.com/Products.htm

Thanks Surfer90 for taking the time. I am taking a look at that site now

We have both and the main difference if that the R4 doesn't take high capacity cards. The max 2GB Micro SD card has already become an issue, especially now that the SDHC cards have come down in price. IMO, go for the latter if you want music and vids as well as games and don't want to have to replace cards.

Excellent point, just the type of advise that I need.

Many thanks for your time.

you should be directing the op to your original selling thread rather than trying to sell outside it. have you posted a picture of it yet on your thread? Seriously, you are breaking all the rules here...

I have an DSTT (Top Toy) that I got from dealextreme http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.10289. They are SDHC compatible and are very simple to use. The price converts to just below £17 free postage but they are out of stock at the mo. You can read the reviews from the people that bought them. My daughter has the R4, out of the two I prefer mine.

hi, instead of starting a new thread i thought id ask on this,

but what is the best card for DS? iv got a budget of £50
also what SD mirco cards would you recomend, as a review said that better quality mirco SD cards run smoother/faster

if anyone could help would be great :)

I've heard from many people that Kingston cards are the best (faster/smoother)
I picked this brand and have had no problems.

I think all cards do the same thing - R4/M3/DSTT etc. but some are SDHC compatible (which basically means you can get a bigger memory). Any card shouldn't cost over £50 inc memory.
Hope this helps.

Get the DSTT.

Thanks to all who posted it has all helped

To be honest r4 and m3s are the best cards you will ever get for quality.

yea the m3 simply and r4 are exactly identical, the firmware is almost backwards compatible, (just a few lines of code needs changing) so you really cant go wrong. and as for surfer90's comment about updates, there are now rarely any updates as nearly all errors and compatability issues are resolved. but personally i'll choose the m3 as i think it looks better :-)

I have the sandisk with the normal read/write speed, and it works fine for me.

4gb is a lot, are you planning to put a lot of videos/songs on it?
