RAC Breakdown, Car insurance & Quidco - a few questions

If anyone has any experience of dealing with the RAC I would be very grateful if you could advise me on the following:

Looking for car insurance with breakdown cover today and I see that RAC are offering £80 cashback through Quidco. According to Quidco If I want the breakdown cover separately I can get upto £40 cashback.

£21 for basic roadside with nationwide recovery, at home and onward travel
£30 for basic roadside with nationwide recovery and at home
£40 for basic roadside, basic roadside with nationwide recovery and basic roadside with at home.

The quote for basic roadside:
Single: £34.50
Joint: £60.50

So if I'm reading this correctly if I take out the "basic roadside" @ £34.50 I'l be £5.50 in profit on a single policy and also have the cover. It seems odds that they're offering a higher cashback rate for a lower level of breakdown cover.

I rang the dept. that deals with car insurance and they stated if I was a breakdown member already I could obtain the RAC+ policy at no additional cost to the standard, but apart from that he was very sketchy. Would there be any other advantage to taking out the breakdown 1st?

All advice very appreciated and rep given.

This is exactly what I was querying. If you check quidco it clearly states basic roadside @ £40.00 cashback. Which as I said seems rather odd considering the cover is only £34.50. Do you think it's incorrect on quidco? http://www.quidco.com/rac-breakdown-cover/

Cheers

Interesting. I want to get this cover too and if you end up not paying for it at all, its a no brainer.

Perhaps you should query it with quidco and let us know on here the answer? ;-)

They responded to let me know they would investigate with their marketing dept. However, I've just checked again and it's changed to the following

£30 for basic roadside with nationwide recovery and at home
£40 for basic roadside with nationwide recovery, at home and onward travel
£21 for basic roadside, basic roadside with nationwide recovery and basic roadside with at home
