Rafa Benitez on Aguilani

"I think the signing should excite the fans," Rafa opined. "He won the Under-19 European Championship with his country, and U21 too. He has some trophies - including the Italian Cup.

"I always remember one game - England versus Italy U21s at Wembley, and he was man of the match in a 3-0 win," he concluded.

Can anyone tell me when this match was as I can't recall this one.

The boys a bit of a walking wounded.

Out of over 420 games since he has been there, he has featured in 147. (Mostly due to injury)

He can go for £10 and we can sign someone else. Poison or whatever his name was from Juve

Could have spent the £20mill better though. :-(

I don't know Si. He's pretty good with midfielders, apart from the said.

Alonso Masc, were trash before they came here.

If he stays fit.

Catermole. I still don't see it.

I don't know........i have my doubts. Italians in general aren't very succesful in England bar a few. They are too used to a slow drab style and never seem to adapt well.

I'd have much rather seen the money spent on an English player. Ashley Young, Cattermole...........even Jenas at a push. lol

I agree but have a good feeling.

Don't think they want to come here.

That's a main problem............they are all mercenaries now and want the silly money at Man City.

I think Cattermole would come but can't see Wigan letting him go. Main priority has been a forward though.......we are still quite well covered in Midfield so don't know why he rushed out to get another.

I don't think we'll sign any big names now. Just the usual unknowns for the future. :-(

I really can't see us winning the Title this season..........i hope i'm wrong but i think Chelsea will walk it.

So you think the thought of Rafa getting sacked at the end of the season is controversial?

Liverpool won't win the league this season and I think they're in real danger of finishing outside the top 4. Losing Alonso is a big loss, and Johnson is going to weaken the defence.

Like Syz said, I think the only thing that will save him is the cost of replacing him.

Balls no reason to sack him we improved ten fold last year, just united had better squad depth and experience.

Alonso maybe but I doubt it will phase the new confidence.

If he doesn't win a trophy next year they maybe questions will be answered.

No way we will be out of the top 4 your just being nieve and hoping.

Well we'll have to agree to disagree. I think Liverpool had a great season last year, but they won't reach those heights this year.

I think losing Alonso is a massive blow and if Aquilani struggled with injuries in Italy, the physicality of the premier league won't be good for him.

I also think Johnson is stupidly overpriced and he'll buckle under the pressure.

Wow Rafa = stupid.

How can Aquilani be 'man of the match' considering Pazzini scored a hat-trick and Aquilani didn't even play? :?
