the idea is to buy it week beginning the 13th so that its sales dont peak to early!! will link the song that week, but just wondered what peoples thoughts are really..... whether it will succeed and opinions on the idea, this group has had a lot of exposure recently so i think it may have a chance :whistling:

No amount of group joining will stop the X Factor song from being number 1 this Christmas.

If Jeff Buckley couldn't do it, can't see RATM doing so.

jeff buckley didnt get anywhere near this ammount of publicity or support though, i would love to see xfactor get number 2 ......its so annoying that it gets number 1 every year just because its on tv and thats how its timed

Well first I've heard of it. I do remember a lot of support here and on FB last year for Buckey though, did well still to reach no.2. I don't really care who hits the top spot at Xmas. I don't watch x-factor, pretty oblivious to it all really, and the singles chart. Hardly a reflection on good music anyway. And Killing in the name... well it's not terribly festive is it! :p

But good luck!

At the end of the day the only songs that ever reach number 1 for christmas are soppy, poppy, cheesy songs that none of us are going to like anyway :)
#10
just a decent xmas song would be good
#11
growing very fast :) when i joined 70,000 either this morning or last night and its up to 200,000 now!
#12
I've joined and will buy. It's only a bit of fun, whether it works or not I don't care
#13
Still think Geraldine should have had it last year, Peter Kaye is a legend :)
#14
resistance is futile.
#15
haha sounds like a laugh!
#16
guess this can be my first online music purchase
#17
which song?

Looks like the Simon Cowell money machine has all the bases covered.

This facebook group is rumoured to have been started by SONY BMG.

RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE = SONY BMG - SONY BMG = COWELL

So whatever happens he is going to have the number 1 and with them both competing he will have even more cash.

09 12 2009 - over 500,000 members

Time for real music lovers to hit back. Go order this after 13th December - If enough people do so it will get a Top 10 slot - maybe even No.1. Would be worth it just to hear what Mr Cowell would have to say!!

Pitty the song is ****.
Pitty it will never work.
Pitty that people actually think it will.
#22
Pity you are such a cynical individual...

This is a bit of light-hearted fun - forget the conspiracy theories etc...

And as for saying the song is **** - that's your opinion - will be interesting to see how many think the same way

This is rather pathetic - who has ever cared about the Christmas No. 1?

It's always been a pretty rubbish affair.

What conspiracy theory?
The fact is this is consumption for consumptions sake. a waste of money.
The vast majority of (deluded) people who buy this thinking they can make a difference to the chart will probably own the song already, when that 59-99p could be going to charity.

Its not light hearted fun, its just moronic.
and thats not even getting into the irony of telling people to buy a song which as a main line contains the lyric "**** you i won't do what you tell me"... Yea brilliant.

And furthermore, even if the 555000 people all bought a copy they probably still wouldn't get number one based on the fact that Alexandra Burke sold 575.000 odd last year for number one.

Also, why would I buy a song that I already own?

Just to prove that I object to people following the 'X Factor/pop' crowd by following the 'anti-X Factor/pop' crowd?

Just give the money to charity instead.

And i quote.. now i could be wrong here but: "**** YOU I WON'T DO WHAT YOU TELL ME"

Sounds like a plan i'm in......:)

There is a good chance this was set up by Sony...lets be honest, a lot of people hate the fact X Factor is the xmas number one...so sony gets someone or a friend of a friend with a little bit of noise behind it to start another song band on their label for a 'battle' and thus not just will x factor get its usual high sales, but so will yet another song on their label for xmas!

The credit crunch beating tactics that even the millionaires are using!

Although id love to see RATM at number one, especially for xmas!

This campagn has gained a lot more momentum since this thread was posted.... I'm not a facebook member but have herd that the group has 600,000 member pledging to buy Rage against the machine.

Leon Jackson, who won the competition in 2007, was able to clinch the coveted Christmas top spot after selling 275,000 copies of his single When You Believe in its opening week. That's almost exactly half the number of people who have promised to buy Killing in the Name on Sunday.

Ain't people strange...my own thread on this subject was removed....according to the mods it was reported twice as a duplicate thread....It's not a posted deal, it's another discussion.....just like the many threads started about X factor.
#31
what is the xfactor song?

i thought peter kaye or that calm down song were gonna be up there, although i am out of touch with the music "scene" these days since all this manufactured crap is around......100x worse than pre xfactor/popstars or whatevere cowell and that irish tool do these days
banned#32
I don't know....never watch X factor

a cover of the Climb by Mylie Cyrus, which in truth is a lot better than the RATM song

But we don't know who's going to sing it yet....they may well crucify the song.
